  1. The staffing wasnt the issue. NYC even had mutual aid from other agencies throughout the northeast. The problem was ppl calling 911 for nonsense and bogging up the system. 911 isnt treated the same as it is up here guys. Its abused terribly down there. The crap ppl call 911 for is utterly ridiculous. So when someone who actually needs EMS, they cant get them cause that unit is busy with a toothache. So when you add all that up plus a blizzard you are gonna have trouble. It unfortunate that it takes fatalitles for people to open up their eyes and see whats really going on.
  2. Lol.. I wish it were that easy. Let me put it in perspective for a minute. FDNY EMS averages more 911 calls in one day then Boston does in a month. Thats on a "normal" day. Now add 50% of call volume to that number and then factor in the weather. Thats a recipe for disaster.
  3. Well finally back from working 32 of the last 40 hours of my life for the city. We all can thank sanitaton for purposely stalling out on this storm simply cause budget cuts are aimed heavily at their agency come next fiscal yr. Its a damn shame cause their nonsense created chaos within other agencies. Bloomberg has to take a hit here for his nonchalant attitude towards the whole thing.
  4. Looks like we "only" got about 13" or so.. That mageband destroyed E Orange county.. 24-30" reports from the Harriman/Monroe area.
  5. Same here.. its been snowing good the past few hours but now its coming down in sheets out there.. Temp of 16*
  6. Its coming down in sheets here... Tough to measure but looks like 8" .... Temp of 19*
  7. My folks in Highland Mills tell me there is anywhere from 14-16" right now there.. And to think we have another 8 hrs or so of precip.. lol Insane!
  8. There must be some insane totals over by Monroe & Woodbury right now.. That band didnt move for hours! Out here in Middletown snow has been picking up in intensity in the last 2 hours.. Accumulation of 6.5" so far
  9. Those 30"+ amounts in that storm were truly epic.. I highly doubt we see those amounts.. Maybe 20-24" if good banding sets up.
  10. Ratios are already impressive.. Surface low is clearly west of all 12z guidance and RUC along with the SREFs continue to zero in on the hudson valley for intense banding.. Interesting day/night ahead
  11. RUC....SREFS & the MM5 still nail the area with intense banding. I thought I saw something mentioned by HPC that the low is now expected to be riding the western side of solutions. I would say a 10-20" snowfall is possible with the highest amounts near Monroe--Harriman area..
  12. We should do well on this side of the county... Both NAM/GFS print out 1"+ for 99% of the county.. high ratios with potential intense banding should yield some insane totals for a few lucky ppl in the HV
  13. Looks like the usual suspects are gonna jackpot with this storm.. West Milford---Tuxedo----Harriman----Monroe----Highland MIlls..
  14. Ratios should be pretty decent out here as well.... 15:1? 18:1?
  15. All I have to say is wow.. A sub 970mb low tucked under LI is ideal for these parts. Lets hope the 12z euro holds firm with this.
  16. Whats funny about all of this is how Will was telling you and I after the 00z Euro run that a further westward jog is unlikely... I guess its safe to say that at this point in time anything is possible.. Now that the infamous s/w over the southwest is coming ashore we might even see a further tug to the west come 00z tonight!
