Unless a Superstorm 93 materializes again (1 in a 100 year chance), I don't see snow outside Central and Western NC and VA.  People laugh at climo but we have climo for a reason.  It's the different between snow and 30 degrees in mid January and rain and 35 in mid February.  Yes, you can get a snowstorm down in SC in March but the setup has less and less margin for error the further we go from here.  That's climo in a nutshell.  I'm a snow lover but a realist as well.  The next two weeks do not show any snow here and then you're into March.  It is what it is.

and it's been that way for the entire 58 years of my life as well as, as long as records have been kept.

Imo, it's pretty much game over for the upstate if the baja low doesn't get mostly sucked up in to the trough.  The 06z Euro still did this but it was starting to leave a tail of energy behind compared to previous runs. The 12z Nam and 12z Icon sucks it up in a similar fashion, the mostly catch it but leave a bit of a trail behind.

The 12z Rgem leaves a little bit more of it behind.. longer tail, less precip.

12z GFS leaves it completely behind (so much so that it's showing a very weak secondary wave of precip from it.

game over as being, out of play...I think is what you are saying.

  3. This has been pretty much perfect for the I-85 corridor in SC. The heavy precip that fell from 2:00am to 7:00am was ALL Snow. The precip that is falling now is very light, but a mix bag. Not sure how much wrap around snow we will get…but it appears the nasty stuff is going to be light.

Just measured 5 inches on my deck (N Main) Greenville.   Looks like we have finally switched to mainly sleet.

GSP had cut my totals to 1.5 in.    Score one for the HRRR.

I heard anywhere from 4-7” in Taylors. I did 3 different measurements of 5”. Matter of fact, had to go on the roof to clear the satellite dish. I thought I was on the bottom step, but i5 was the 3rd step…I busted my tail…then made a snow angel and laughed at myself!

Burrell you are the man! 8 inches of snow and now heavy sleet in northern Six Mile. NWS blew it again this way!!!

Burrell never wavered on what he expected. It happened exactly as predicted. GSP and Justus reacted, which is unusual.

Excited for the Upstate crew. I know you guys have been in the screw zone a ton over the last decade. Look to catch the bullseye here.

Our bit of snow followed by Pingermageddon will still be fun! After the last few winters, I’ll happily take what we can get.

    I hope you are right!
