I was going to say...when was the last "Fab Feb"? 2014? Don't even get me started on the "it can still snow in March".
I'm sorry but I think it's fair for folks to be discouraged by transient cold and consistent rain. Glad the drought is over but man, we all need a snow event to track. Once we get to Jan 15th, it feels like we're halfway through winter.
Well this certainly panned out. Glad I made it up to Banner Elk for the one decent snow back in January. Here's to an active spring. Maybe we'll have better luck tracking heavy rains and strong storms!

Ummm… snow flurries in Biltmore Village this morning?

Wind gusts this morning have been pretty impressive. Rain....not so much. I only have 0.24 in the gauge from yesterday/last night. No flakes this morning.

As has been the case time and time again the past 2 winters. We get a small glimmer of hope, only for it to smack us back down. This has been decreasing all weekend.

Quickly turning into another winter of "I hope we see token flakes"

PD storm aside, I'm just curious how the long-term projections were so off for February? Models are now in the range for the end of Feb and early March....with no cold air in sight. I remember back in late Jan when @wncsnowand I were concerned about the warmth in early Feb and were told "Mid-Feb the pattern will be rocking"...."Just wait until the post-Valentine's period".... "Cold air will return the last 2 weeks of Feb".
I agree with others that the high-elevations will undoubtely get snow again but I think we're quickly coming to the point where most of the southeast will have to be banking on the PD storm or expect to get blanked again.

I’m calling it a wrap for me. Another snowless winter for my backyard. Lucky I went to Banner Elk during the “cold snap”.
What happened to the “Fab Feb” pattern we were all promised? Another case of cool and chilly weather but no cold and no snow

Not a bad look and I'll always take some evidence of a chance over no chance. But, we've seen this before several times this winter 1-2 weeks out and it didn't come to fruition.

We're looking right at Mid-February on the models now and just need to come to an agreement on whether it'll be 40° and rainy or.... 50° and rainy. Really exciting developments.

Pretty great weekend to get out and enjoy the outdoors. Grass is greening and my backyard has plenty of trees budding and little flowers poking out on the bushes. Winter about to make its curtain call

Does anyone really think non mountain areas are going to score in late Feb or March? I put the realistic odds at <20%
I don't think so, either. I'd say <25%. It'll get cold enough just for multiple chilly rain days in late Feb/March. But, no snow other than above 3000ft.
I could also see us having a rain event Feb 12-14 that ushers in the cold pattern and then we just completely dry out.

So, what about highs in the mid to upper 50s is supposed to excite me about our February snow prospects below 3500'?

Y'all wanna guess the temps and conditions in Asheville? (Hint: More of the same)

Y'all excited to punt to Mid-Feb? But, then the precip will disappear? And then we hold out for miracle flakes in March?

I've seen one or two flakes mix in this morning but mainly just plain old rain. Not too excited about the long term either.

Where's @wncsnow. I need someone to help tamper expectations

At least we have a fantasy storm(s). We haven't had too many of those lately.
