  1. Missed South...missed North...now looks like missing east! I'd take a dusting and be happy with this one.
  2. Please when you guys show models, show the WHOLE SE, not just SC/NC. PLEASE??? Some of us live in GA.
  3. I would be happy with half an inch.....but not getting my hopes up.
  4. 46 and the sun just came out here. We are supposed to be right on the line of freezing precip, other than an interesting weather weekend, I dont think we get anything frozen at all. We are in the Winter weather watch though.
  5. THIS! Crackin me up girl! Not less than 8 hours ago we were gonna get dumped on here. Its already shifting north, warmer, less qpf, warm nose, suppressed, BLAH BLAH BLAH. Climo baby....CLIMO!!!!!! The only chance we are ever gonna have for more than a few inches of snow is a setup like The Superstorm of 93. Storm of the century! Last time I checked we got another 70-80 years to go.
  6. Any weather App is really only good for two things. Telling you what is happening right now, and giving you a vague idea about possible precip within the next two to three days. I see folks planning things a week out using them and ive stopped trying to show or tell them how messed up that is. No one understands that there isnt a team of PEOPLE working daily/hourly to update it. I've stopped pointing out to family and friends how different several apps can be for pretty much everything! Its actually not extremely difficult to learn a tiny bit about pressure systems and fronts and how they interact at different times of the year to do your own predicting in a general sense.
  7. Dont look now, but take a look at some of the models for next week......
  8. Im gonna layoff until friday afternoon
  9. I still see quite a few models showing temps and dewpoints really low at 2m here for Sat/Sun. Like temps in the mid 20s! Forecast now showing mostly rain here south of ATL. Something ain't adding up.
  10. Thrasher, Notice who has been left out of all that!
  11. Agree with Thrasher. Please include the entire SE on the model maps. Thx!
  12. Im gonna call it, very low probability of a severe ice event where we are, south of ATL. Really looking like a nice pretty glaze. I dont think we will be cold enough at the lower levels long enough to get much accumulation at all here. Im not saying storm cancel, but Im gonna stick with this. Typical climo here supports it too.
  13. Stebany, Air travel will be completely crippled, I.E. completely stopped by an ice event such as this. Anywhere there is ice like we currently see forecast we basically cannot fly. De-icing fails in these types of conditions so expect massive cancellations for airports in the path of any sleet/Ice event. Its likely going to impact RDU/CLT/ATL and a bunch of other airports. Its possible that she will make it in, but most airlines will severely thin/cut operations into places where the aircraft and crews might get stuck. I'd also expect huge delays after the event for Delta as ATL being the main hub is going to be severely impacted. Takes days to put crews and aircraft back into the schedule with these types of disruption. Bottom line, doesnt mean she wont make it, but the odds are probably not good. If she has the option to go earlier in the day I'd do it.
  14. Still sticking with crippling Ice around here. F that S$%t.
  15. Actually starting to look like we are gonna get "missed" again. Id rather that happen than a crippling ice storm! Models sneaking the line slightly North.
  16. Sleetfest followed by freezing rain. Snow cancel. I thought we had a shot at maybe an inch or two of snow up front, but I think that ain't happening at this point.
  17. I think for us here around ATL and just south, the problem with the models is how they handle the sleet/snow thing. I think we mix in the very beginning for a while, then the sleetfest and the freezing rain. The Models predicting total snowfall are likely really sleet totals, which is kind of insane. 3-4 inches of sleet followed by freezing rain will be devastating. Im kinda hoping for the sleet thing. The freezing rain setup looks really bad here. Fingers crossed. Sleet is ugly, snow is not. Freezing rain just outright sucks.
  18. Rare to see the wedge so far SW and W of where I am in most winter set ups. Im almost on top of KFFC, Peachtree city, GA. Normally we are usually right on the line but not with this one on most models.
  19. Im in Senoia, about 3nm southeast of the NOAA radar facility at KFFC, 20 nm almost due south of KATL.
  20. Really concerned about the icing event progged for Central GA/most of SC. I dont recall numbers for QPF and FR amounts like that in my entire time living here (25 years). With the cold and mid level set up currently forecast, it looks to be a literal perfect storm for what could be the most devastating winter event here since probably Mar of 93. Hoping and praying this is sleet with a few upfront inches of snow. That much ice, even half of it shown on some of the recent models will be extremely serious. CAD looks strong with this one, which probably means we stay more in the FR area longer here. Usually it backs north and eastward pretty quickly during these types of events, limitng what we end up with. Not seeing that happen with this one. Seems it extends way farther south and westward than normal.
  21. If the ice arrives as progged it could be DAYS without power. Im not concerned as Ive got wood and a real fireplace, but heating is the only real issue around here. Food can sit in the garage or on the patio with these temps and probably not ruin. The Ice is not something we deal with down here and if we get even a half an inch it will be devastating, particularly if its over such a wide area. The other danger is trees around the house. Ive got a few large Pines in front, but they are very healthy and mostly straight. Get enough Ice load and a little wind and that wont mean much.
  22. I ALREADY do not like how we are hanging on to the very southern edge of this next one......Missed it by 10 miles to the north on the last. Im already stepping towards the edge!
  23. I got a feeling there may be quite a bit of participation with this thread. We missed the snow here by about 10 miles this weekend!!! I was too depressed to post.
