I even stacked my lounge chairs up on the pool deck, took the umbrella out of its stand, moved the deck box under cover, and got 15 gallons of gas for the Ginny. Not to mention I got to drag the generator back down to the shed. Gonna need a hellava lot of snow this winter to burn that much gas in the Ariens.

Save 5 gallons, put stabilizer in it and put the rest in the car.

They do that to temper expectations.  That way if the power comes back in three days everyone sings of their heroism.  Very old trick.

The old under promise, over deliver trick

Did I just hear this right on wcvb? Eversource saying that 50-70% of its customers will be without power for 1-3 weeks?!  Maybe I need another cup of coffee…

“According to Eversource, 50% to 69% of their customers could lose power. Restorations could go on from 8 to 21 days.”

I bought one after the halloween snow storm, went without power for 6 days and it was down in the 20;s every night. Melted snow near my woodstove to flush the toilet. I m prepared if we ever lose it again.

Warmer weather is definitely better if you’re going to lose power for days. I know we lost power during the ice storm in 1973.  Not sure for how long but I know it was several days. Pipes froze all over the house and did considerable damage. My dad had 4 or 5 big tropical fish tanks and all the fish died. We had fireplaces but they didn’t help for warming the house, just close radiant heat.

Yeah, unless you have a generator it's misery not to have power for more than a few days, especially when it looks humid/warm after the storm.. not like we drop to cool days after the storm.  We lost power for 8 days after Andrew, I was young so did not care but my parents hate it, they left on a cruise after 5 days lol.

    Furniture store: Power surge?

Yea long outages suck. We lost power for 2 weeks after Gloria and it was hot and humid afterword for several days. My son was about 2 months old and I remember it being freaking hot. No fan, no ac and no water. We had to drive to in-laws 10 miles away to get tubs of water just for flushing the toilet. I bought a generator shortly after and would never be without one.

When I worked at the pizza shop 1973-75 while in UMaine forestry school, we could be a bit smug when the power went off as the ovens were gas and we had battery lighting.  The old fashioned mechanical register was electric but could be run manually with a crank.  (And might be a museum piece today.)

When I was 12 we lived in a house in Westchester County NY that had a bomb shelter under the garage. It had some sort of air filter with a big crank that you'd use in a prolonged power outage.  My parents didn't want us to tell our friends but I think we had every kid in the neighborhood down there at some point.

Several members of my family are. They have been reading up on efficacy numbers a lot since the CDC announcement.

You have a nice place up in Randolph. Why don’t you take up fly fishing.? Get outside. It’s good for your head.

I’ve put it off.  I had the old Zostivax about 9-10 years ago but that’s 50% and shingrix is close to 100%.  Problem is everyone gets sick for 18 hours.   I had shingles at age 23-it was awful!

I got a slight fever and fairly intense muscle soreness especially after the second shot. Side effects were a bit worse than anticipated but better than going through shingles.

  10. My haircut person retired so went to someone on a recommendation. As well as not being vaccinated she spent more time lecturing me on the merits of hydroxychloroquine than cutting my hair. She said most of her clients are older so figures she's safe dealing with mostly vaccinated folks. WTF

I never asserted the "vaccines are failing." I know that's a point of intense fear for a lot of you...

I have simply been saying that the casedemic stuff is not going to end even if we vaccinate a bunch more people. There is always going to be a steady stream of cases, hospitalizations, and deaths from just the vaccinated to keep it going.

We need to just get off the treadmill and stop testing.

What did you post about before covid?

It's time to say bye to Cashman. New blood and new thoughts are needed. It blows my mind that you guys have only 1 title since 2000.

Time to say goodbye to Hal too. Love him or hate him George had that win at all costs mentality and passion for the game itself. Hal is only running this team because he inherited it. He only wants to stay profitable. Time to sell the team.

Man … Does anyone know anything about window AC brackets or these ace braces ?

My main living area AC failed and need to get a new one but I also happen to get new upgraded modern vinyl window replacements that unfortunately are not AC- ready

Kind of pissed off actually.  I was clear that I needed them to be and then I got all these installed and they’re not f*n assholes.

I’m just sick of being conned into buying shit that’s white-washed as what I need but it’s not quite right. Need a solution that is right for AC install into replacement windows

    what is used for this:

This will work with vinyl replacement windows if you can't make something yourself.
