  1. God, I wish I didn't have so much work and would drive to my roots in Carteret County. They are gonna get pasted.
  2. Well, it is my last name - many years of practice
  3. We’re probably distantly related. I’m a McLean, and my grandfather’s clan is generally from Gray’s Creek
  4. Ahh, my senior year in college. I was taking a Weather and Climate elective, and my professor started tracking the storm on Monday. By Wednesday he thought it could be a significant storm (4-6”). Meanwhile, Greg remained very conservative until Friday. TBH, no one predicted the LP to stall off the coast and the bands of heavy snow just parked over Raleigh. 24” - IT WAS EPIC
  5. That’s good your folks are still there. We live in Raleigh, but I might be storm chasing next week
  6. Gotta a cottage off of Coast Guard Rd. Snow cream and spiced rum at my place . Might be a Carteret County special, a la ‘80 & ‘89.
  7. Don’t forget that the storm of January 2000 started out with about 2 inches of sleet and then boom… gotta dream big to have cool nightmares
  8. That zinger just heated up the atmosphere. All rain for NC and hopefully some sunshine for State fans
  9. What are the dynamics that dissipate the lee side energy and leave Wake bare ‘n bent? #newbs
  10. Got the popcorn popping. It’s gonna be a Hallmark moment for sure.
  11. I’m in North Hills, near Douglas Elementary. It’s very light atm, but we’re probably close to 1”. Rates and ratios should increase soon. Would guess we’ll land around 3”. Couldn’t be happier
  12. Special, special storm. Was a senior at NC State and taking “Intro to Weather and Climatology.” It was a M,W,F class. So, we got to watch the “winter hurricane” slowly evolve from a “chance” of snow to a dump fest. It was awesome watching the professor’s inner child blossom by Friday’s class. With spit building up in the corners of his dry mouth and disheveled hair, constantly manipulated by his fidgety hands, he was in awe of what could be and what was a once in lifetime triangle storm…I can still see the SLP epically develop right off the coast of southern SC, windup into an atmospheric bowling ball and to then stall off the SOBX, creating mesoscale snow banding right over Wake Co. And it.just.wouldn’t.stop!…We can always dream…
