Looks like another rain to freezing rain then maybe a sleet & snow mix at the end of the storm to me for the 13-16th timeframe to me… This far out I lean to just rain or a a rain/freezing rain mix for most of the RVA area.. Definitely looks like allot of moisture with it regardless in this timeframe… Maybe we can get a surprise tomorrow night or Saturday when the cold front comes through… Going to be another cold weekend for sure.. -

Personally I’m glad it didn’t snow.. my neighborhood is still an ice box! It would be even worse if a fresh snowpack was on top of all this & then re froze … F that! Btw the 13th-15th timeframe looks like there could be another pretty bad freezing rain event… -

The VA/NC boarder especially near the mountains will do rather well … Southhill looks to be in a decent spot later today too for about 3 inches… some of the mountain areas may end up with more then VA Beach. -

Looks like the Hampton Roads area /VA beach area may get hit with a little snow shower in spots in about an hour or two.. Then get going after 12 noon … If anything makes it up to Ric to accumulate it looks like it will be after 4pm … -

The models are all over the place because they could not decide how & where the transfer from the upper low to the coastal would exactly be.. That combined with some of the models also struggling on how much the dry air already in place would affect this storm is why the models have been all over the place… Dude just can’t ever fully admit that he saw it wrong himself.. Funny thing is he still may end up being right is most of his predictions if the storm is able to hug the coast & backfill… -

Thats all predicted to dry out once it passes the mountains.. Honestly…just looking at the current radar,it looks like this whole storm could be a bust east of the NC Mountains and Charlotte areas…You can clearly see how much moisture is out there but it begins to die out when it passes these areas because of the dry air already in place & the coastal is also beginning to take away the energy from the low coming across and transferring its energy into the coastal….Currently, it looks like the coastal will develop too far south & off the coast… In turn drying out everything west & NW of it… Maybe the NC/SC coast gets back in some action late afternoon tomorrow, once the storm explodes out to sea and starts to backfill… Raleigh up to Richmond is just being killed by the dry air already in place then losing the moisture from the upper low to the coastal.. Only chance now would be if this thing can stay closer to the coast a little longer and really ramp up quickly & backfill but this dosnt look very likely at this point, especially up this way.. -

Watch we will end up getting 1-3 tomorrow then 1-3 on Wednesday A nice little refresh of snow each time wouldn’t be the worst thing. Or Of course it could be nothing for the RVA area…lol Defiantly still allot up in the air… Prob going to be painful to watch this on Radar tomorrow but, I’m going to live and die on the 3-6 inch train for this first storm tomorrow here in Glen Allen… I’m hoping for some good banding like the Nam this morning showed… -

True, but the Euro has been pretty consistent on its main moisture being south of us … Hopefully we can finally start to get some model agreement somewhere..Will definitely be pulling for the Nam to be right…Again, it’s pretty close to the best scenario of what we would want for a nice hit in this area… will be interesting to see what wins out… -

6z Euro Looks to be still staying well south with most of the heavy moisture… It’s basically a strung out mess .. Nowhere really getting huge totals.. Ric not much of anything -

The models are all over the place because they can’t figure out how& where the storm will develop off the coast & how much dry air will get into this storm (from two different directions & sources ) .. It’s definitely going to be boom or bust in many areas… If your in VA beach through Richmond area, that last NAM run is pretty much exactly what we need to happen to really get a nice hit in both places. It forms exactly where we need it to & pushes moisture back into both areas perfectly… -

That Nam run is just about the best run you can have for the RVA & VA Beach area… Everything just backfills perfectly & it’s not north enough to get more dry air pulled into it. Now if it could just actually happen like that .. lol -

eaglesin2011 replied to RIC Airport's topic in Mid Atlantic
For those of you in the VA Beach area.. That’s just missing the RVA area but just a slight bump north would make all the difference in this run.. The build up just south of us is a good sign… I can’t tell if this moved more north from the prior runs but it definitely is putting out more precip in areas near the boarder & Va Beach -

Thank you! Exactly what I was just talking about.. Wherever this ends up setting up is going to be key.. It’s a race between the development of the storm & the dry air … Still right on the boarder line at this point but definitely trending in a good direction at this point… -

They are going to be wrong in my opinion . i just can’t see how we don’t end up with some backfill once this thing hits the coast. with the winds expected I could easily see a 1 to 2 inch band hit the area at some point.. If this slides even more south then yeah maybe we get nothing but right now I’m still in the 3-6 boat for RVA -
