  1. That's usually reserved for the big KU events, but even Gloucester is usually too far east for that. That's more cstl north shore in Essex county like Salem/Peabody. Usually winds aloft start turning east and pumping moisture off the water, while winds near and just inland from the coast are north. 1/2/14 was one that was not a classic KU...but they have wind off of 40+ SSTs into air that was barely above 0F. Absolute fluff bomb for Essex county, especially that area near Boxford.
  2. That was a fun storm despite the mess in the middle. Sure it could have been more, but not common to have WSW amounts that early in the season.
  3. Yeah, I'd love to see 1995 again. Epic month. So many good memories. I think Christmas morning it was like 5F out with a foot OTG. A true Christmas of yore. I'll have to watch Schwoegler's video again for that storm a few days earlier.
  4. Love an early start...kind of with Kevin on that one with a snowy December, despite climo being a little hostile for me, locally.
  5. Would probably lead to a weaker STJ? Probably not a bad thing. I feel like it's been active recently..although that's anecdotal off the top of my head.
  6. Will the elusive -NAO appear lol. Usually tougher to do with Nina, but it’s happened before. Nina is the talk that I hear as well. Hopefully a nice early start to winter.
  7. Yeah I was surprised. But hey, at least the HS has a Davis.
  8. Dude that is awesome. I wish we had more squalls around here, but the sun/snow shower was really heard
  9. What was your high? 40? So you’ve been in the low to mid 30s because of these squalls lol. That’s nuts.
  10. I like how people dropped 10F in squalls lol. What a cold day.
  11. It’s dam cold with the wind. This definitely felt like November.
  12. Ha, was just thinking that. Sheet drizzle is the worst so I’ll take some snow and sun.
  13. I’d still take this over sheet drizzle. At least it’s a partly sunny 44-45.
  14. It hasn’t been too bad this afternoon other than the chill. Dodged a lot of snow showers and have some sun.
  15. Yeah had decent sun but even behind the clouds it drops to 41-42. That’s stupid here on the coast this time of year when no precip.
  16. Probably helped that the airmass was a bit warmer and held more moisture than typical arctic air masses. So you get that flow and block it, and much more moisture to squeeze out. It wouldn’t take much to get into the DGZ either in this airmass.
  17. Deformed and blocked. Pretty cool. Even prior to winds turning NW they were W to SW. Definitely no downslope.
