96-97 was not good until the big boy hit on 3/31. The "best" event was the surprise storm Jerry mentioned. Was supposed to be this innocuous little thing going south of us. It basically was one of those WSW-ENE deffy bands that dropped 10" of fluff just south of BOS. I think BOS had like 6".
But I recall many of the events were 2-3" slop events that turned to rain. We did ok on the first Dec snow event, but porked in the second one. The famous Cantore TSSN one.
I remember being astonished that we wound up with normal seasonal snowfall that year when I lived in Bristol CT. I do remember a six inch storm in January and it was a quick hitter at night. But I also remember that winter torching something fierce.

The only thing positive I can think about the last six seasons (this one included) is despite all being anywhere from ten to twenty five inches below normal, we have had four double digit events here over the time period. Something unheard of in the 80s and the first two 90s winters

PD2 was a big storm when I lived in Bristol CT with around 16 inches but really wasn't that exciting. 1" hr rates with fair snow growth.
What was more interesting was how it kept creeping north and how slowly north the leading edge was moving. Also really cool was that Sunday had textbook increasing high clouds with bitter cold temps and calm wind. High was around 10 above that day before the storm.

Hate to admit it, but I'm ready to stick a fork in it. Certainly wouldn't mind a big one the beginning of March, but I don't expect anything at the moment. I haven't suffered with a lack of snow compared to some, but the stop start nature of these winters is what starts to annoy me. The old car community is stirring as well, like they feel winter is just about done.
I agree with you as far putting a fork in it this winter. This makes the sixth consecutive winter below average to way below average.

I'm gonna agree with you on snowcover. I don't have nearly as many days as you but the number isn't terrible for the small amount of snow that's provided the cover.

It might be the famous blizzard of 66. I experienced it in upstate NY. Oswego with 100”. My campus got “only” 38.
That's it!! Is that the biggest snow you ever witnessed?

Windy windy windy!! That forecast definitely verified. Must have been a few gusts near 50 and lots 30-40. Impressive.

This was a great stretch both in 2014 and 2015. I need to think about the good ole days and get my mind off this other BS.
It blows my mind this streak in the metro Boston area but when you guys do northeasters right, you guys really do them right. I hope you guys get a good storm in the next month or so.

An inch and a half here on grassy surfaces. he's further south so could have close to 4.
Sometimes I rain when Chicopee or Ludlow snows.

This is why I’m actually happy that Greenfield didn’t even catch the fringes of this because it’s 36°. It just would’ve been white rain.
I think just about ten miles south of me has a foot. bdl only 15 miles from me as the crow flies

You have 4” in Springfield? Holy cut off. I’ve been as far south as Easthampton today and there’s nothing on the ground.
Yes. On grass and cold surfaces. I'm also only about two or three miles from the CT border as the crow flies

Four down. Light snow and breezy

When I say there's often a big difference from BDL to here with these southern passing events I am not kidding
