    I am ever the optimist, but I'm increasingly from Missouri otherwise when it comes to winter weather on the lee side. Nice to have something to track, though.

    32.4 here. I put a couple butts on to smoke last night around 10. Forecast was for a low of around 40. Had to get up at 4:30 and add some more fire to keep things moving along to schedule. (I've got a handy wifi app that monitors pit and meat temp and notifies me via the phone when attention is needed). My standing joke about telling someone I'm gonna smoke a couple pork butts is that I'm gonna need some pretty big papers.

    The temperature has fluctuated in a very narrow range here today: 36 to 38.1. Raw is right. Makes my bones cold.

    36.9 and light rain. Thought I might look out back and see a glaze this morning, but my mountains are obscured by the low ceiling. Doubt there's any ice there, though.

    I kept looking at the radar last night and that's exactly what happened. There was a no snow band between the mountains and foothills/ western piedmont that ran WSW to ENE. Glad you got to see some snow. Wonder if the South Mountains got any extra enhancement?

    I saw zero flakeage. Not even a flurry. Like wncsnow says, as the crow flies, Mt. Mitchell is just a dozen or so miles away. It's like a snow stopper.

    25.3 for my overnight low in PG.

    The cat woke me up earlier than is my general custom, but I'm glad he did since a nice little snow shower was rolling around 7a. Hopefully a harbinger for winter weather this season.
