Putting on my tin-foil hat, 98.5 The Sports Hub is going off about the whistling before Astros hits last night and Dusty Baker wearing a smart watch.

That's not the only tin foil hat excuse. During the game twitter was talking about Valdez touching something above his left eye every time he got a new baseball. As if umps aren't checking for substances. They just got beat plain and simple. The offense had been on a tear the last few weeks and was bound to go cold, and facing a junkballer and their second best pitcher on successive nights is a good catalyst for that.

78 for the high. Still haven't been below 51 here. Everything is still green including the palms at a nearby bar on the shore.

There are also some palms at The Pavilion on Soundview Beach and the New London City Dock Restaurant. I wonder where they go when it gets cold or where they even got them from.

My thing is I don’t think that is the biggest issue

He pitched 5 innings many starts this year and was good when he came back . He had 7-8 K’s in Baltimore and was killing it ...then he slipped on mound and hasn’t had ability to locate since then And hasn’t pitched well to say the least .

I was hoping he'd come back a little stronger. Then you trade him in the off-season when he has value.

I didn’t see it . Was at the girls HS game vs Lewis Mills. What did he have?

Monday night seems more like a valley deal .  Like Maple Hollow, IJD etc

Next Sat-Sun-Mon he has 44/56, 39/56, and 37/57. 37 at BDL will be a freeze in the better radiating spots NW/NE, and a frost across a lot of the interior.

  6. CT DMV is pretty nice now. Another good thing Gov. Lamont has quietly done after previous administrations fumbled time and time again. Can do most common stuff online, otherwise you make an appointment to go in person. I've heard mixed reviews about the appointments where some people say you're in and out at your designated time slot, and others have said they still had to wait 45 minutes to be seen. Have to admit being able to go online and in 3 minutes renew my license was pretty slick. $72 and 4 days later I had a brand new license good for the next 6 years in my mailbox.

Another Govt **** up placing 33 hours as when employers need to offer health care. Employers play that game everywhere. Obviously small businesses can't afford it but there needs to be a universal solution for working people based on income. The affordable care act isn't affordable if you make over 35k a year. It's a joke

The ACA was dramatically watered down to get it to pass Congress. It was never going to be the end all be all, just the starting point. Most first world nations have universal health care coverage for everyone. No more making mom and pop offer insurance or play games with hours or force people into bankruptcy to cover a medical emergency or forcing people to stay in a bad job because their health care for them and their kids is chained to it. We can't even get lower drug prices on par with our peers because the people in our government have all been bought off. The best investment corporations have ever made was in our Congress.

So it's not capitalism that is failing as Forks says it's socialism?  You obviously don't understand how capitalistic societies also can help the underprivileged members by enabling them to move upward through job training, financial assistance while times are tough. Welfare was not created to be a lifelong job it was created to assist until people could get back on their feet. What we need is more opportunities for the downtrodden. But we also need motivation to work not just handing out money, there has to be a string attached.

Nearly every economy on earth is a mix of socialism and capitalism. We are not unique other than the fact that corruption and bribery of government officials is legal here while in most other countries it is not. Until you fix that things are going to continue to spiral downward.

  9. All of this is sleepy Joe Byden's fault ! This administration is just two weeks into its first fiscal year and already having all this inflation from trillion dollar infrastructure packages and labor shortages because of vaccine mandates that don't yet exist.

  10. The U.S. already has socialism. Almost every country on earth does. I guess Americans just don't work as hard as our peers in other first world countries that have a substantially better quality of life. Get back to the fields and mines you lazy Americans ! Time to bring China's 996 work week to America.

Interesting about the growing season will be officially over.  I never thought of that but even if we got there I feel they should issue a frost/freeze since although the farming growing season will be over many people keep houseplants out.  I had envisioned that once we get later in the season than this when the first cold snap comes they will have to issue a warning  from the Canadian border to the South Coast of New England, basically all of New England at one time.

I don't know what the rule is, but it happens every now and again where you'll never see a frost/freeze advisory/warning even if it's the first one, and the discussion always refers to the growing season being over even if not in reality. I'm not sure what cut off they use though for when they end the growing season. I doubt it's the 50th percentile (average) date, so maybe they take the 75th or 90th percentile date and call the season over at that point meaning no need to issue any sort of advisories.

    36 counts as a frost?

I mean you have to pick a 2m temp threshold since actual frosts aren't tracked officially. I guess 36F at 2m means a few degrees colder at ground level where plants might be? I've always assumed the 36/32/28 thresholds for which they publish normals were the frost/freeze/hard freeze thresholds for climate tracking purposes and weren't just randomly selected temp thresholds.

Question....  has any "official" reporting station in New England or for that matter the Northeast reported a 32F for a low yet.  I know a few weather stations like Alex's  31.9F have had a touch of frost but anything official?

CAR had their first frost (36F or lower) on 9/29, and CON had theirs on 10/1, but no freezes yet. Gonna be an easy frost/freeze program this year for the New England WFOs because by the time we have first frosts and freezes the growing season will officially be over. After this week all but 4 of the 22 climo sites in CT that have published frost/freeze normals will be past their average first freeze date, so I imagine northern New England is weeks behind schedule.
