  1. Mountains have done great with this pattern but we've largely missed out, with <0.05" precip through Feb so far and a good chance it will stay basically dry (just traces here and there) close to the rest of the month. Last day with >0.1" water here was... November 9th. Since 11/9, 101 days, Centennial (closest station to me) has had 0.41" water. Grr.
  2. Hopefully this storm will be juicier than the last several for the southern and central mountains. BV looks pretty dry in that picture.
  3. Snow was quite a bust, but temps weren't. Only 1.1" after 0.5" earlier in the week. Down to 4 now, who knows how low it will go if skies clear.
  4. It's 65 at DEN and 32 at Fort Morgan, less than 50 miles away and lower in elevation. Front, anyone?
  5. 11.5" snow in January, to go with 1.0 in Dec and 25.2 in Nov for a season total of 37.7" so far.
  6. Man, we could use some of this drama in the Mountain West forum. Would be fun. But I get it for sure- lived in SNE till 2010 and cut my weather teeth in the 80s, the decade of rain and frozen tundra and changing the channels back and forth between Channel 4, 5 and 7 to see if there was a ray of hope from any of the forecasters. And the Red Sox mostly sucked then too.
  7. 0.8". I-70 was the sharp dividing line between a moderate snowfall and an almost total miss. For once, people in Loveland and FoCo can't complain.
  8. that struck me as well. I think when schools hear "low as low as -15" they think it will happen at 7 AM, when the other day the low was around or even before midnight, and by 7 it was around zero. And this AM there was a little breeze too, was walking the dog.
  9. Sneaux!! Fun, but staying warm the next two nights will be a challenge for all.
  10. Interesting who radiated and who didn't... anyplace with a downslope wind (e.g. here, only got to -4) didn't radiate much but places that were calm went as low as -16 or 17.
  11. 3.2" here. Shoveled it in about 5 minutes. Likely only about 0.1" water.
  12. Snow quite anemic so far. 2 inches in 6 hours, and radar looks underwhelming. 19 F at my house.
  13. Yeah I haven't really kept track formally (though posts here would probably fill the data in) but just from memory, this week is often the coldest, with a secondary minimum the second week of Feb.
  14. Gonna be one of those storms where you can shovel your driveway with a leaf blower... and I bet a lot of people will.
  15. Looking more like a "normal" deep freeze, like we get more or less yearly, with 0.2" to 0.4" QPF to make things white (and drop nighttime temps) on the front end. Still, below zero Sat night-Sun night with even a breath of wind will make it less than comfy for sure.
  16. Starting to talk about an Arctic outbreak in 6-7 days, perfectly timed for MLK weekend which always seems to be climatologically when we are most likely to get these... some snow at the front end maybe, too, which would be even better. Magnitude and duration of course are up in the air, with the core maybe east of us. Discuss.
  17. Would make sense, 2.8" for me. But January seldom has heavy snows here, too dry. Average for Denver is just 6.5" so if we get another inch we'll be there.
  18. 3.0" here, slowly accumulating over 15 hours. Seems to be done now.
  19. Yeah, that CPC Christmas Eve long range outlook doesn't seem to be panning out at all, with cold air mainly confined to east of 102 W and precip staying north and south. Reminds me of the ridge that wouldn't quit a few summers ago.
  20. Don't look now, but the long range forecast for this neck of the woods is trending cold and maybe snowy the first week of January. Happy New Year?
  21. Nope. On track for the #2 driest (trace of precip) and top 10 warmest Dec, maybe top 5. Been in the mid 60s consistently the last 3-4 days and minimums above freezing. I wonder if December will finish warmer than November- right now Dec average is 40.1 and November was 38.2.
  22. There are several good sites for ski area weather, but they're all subscription as far as I know. The discussions can get pretty sophisticated.
