I really don't give two shits about the console. I'm always looking at the data on the PC or online...not the console. But considering how much it's outdated, it really shouldn't cost as much as it does.

As for sensor specs, a Davis VP2 with FARS will blow all of those out of the water. They are long overdue for a VP3 though. I'd like to see them go a little higher end for their non all-in-1 unit line (VP2). The technology is out there for ultrasonic wind, weighing rain gauges (Davis actually has some patents out on this), visibility, etc.

The weather flow station Hazey referenced before is interesting. Claims it has no moving parts and uses an ultrasonic wind speed sensor and haptic rain gauge.

Have you experienced the false lightening strike issue?  I’m looking to get a weather station and do like this one overall, but have read negative reviews about the lightening strike detector.

They had issues with some when they first released it. It had something to do with the aspirating fan wiring routing. They caught the issue quickly and implemented the fix. If you got the early releases they were doing the wiring update and returning them quickly if you sent them the sensor.

For the money its a great station. Mine has been working flawlessly for a few months now. I read on a weather station forum where people put them next to Davis units and plot the data on graphs. They were pretty much dead on with each other.

Speaking of weather stations, anyone have any thoughts on this product? I think it's relatively new.

I highly recommend Acurites new Atlas weather station. I have had mine for about 2 months now and love it. Its a big update from their popular pro 5 in 1 unit it replaced. The touch color display unit is awesome and can log data on a SD card. The Acurite ap is pretty solid and its simple to hook up to weather underground with rapid fire updates. For only $256 on Amazon you get the station, color display, lighting detector, and wireless hub. Another cool feature is the wireless hub can support a ton of different sensors. You can hook up soil temp probes, temp/humidty sensors, water leak sensors, etc.

  4. Historic day in Massachusetts.

LEICESTER -- Forget Black Friday. Today is Toke Tuesday.

Hundreds of mainly millennial weed lovers lined up before dawn on a country hillside in western Massachusetts in driving sleet and rain, pitching the Main Street of Leicester into gridlock as legalized recreational marijuana for the masses became a reality here and in Northampton.

Hopefully it won’t come back to bite them. NYC is an absolute mess right now that will make national headlines in the coming hours/days. People stuck in gridlock and not moving for 3-4 hours. The GW Bridge is basically closed and people are abandoning their cars and walking home across the bridge. Boston folk should be ok though as this is hitting after rush hour. In NYC it was the worst timing possible

Disaster in CT as well. Meritt Parkway closed in 5 different spots.

Decent thunder and lightning made it to Eastie. Very strange with how cool it is. On another note, does anybody know why I can’t get the ASOS on my  wunderground map? Is it something in my settings or do they not have those ones anymore? I emailed them but didn’t receive a response

I heard they removed them a while ago. I also read that wunderground is coming out with a whole new redesign of the wundermap soon. Maybe they will add them back.

    More info here.

I think I'm done with Subaru.  I love the cars but they are money pits.

You probably had a pre 2011. They had major head gasket issues and needed the expensive timing belt maintenance done.

The head gasket issue was resolved and they went over to timing chains that never need replacement on the engines around 2011-2012.

Subaru or Mitsubishi are pretty cheap for AWD

You can get a new Subaru Impreza for about 20k with 0.9 apr financing through Subaru. My wife bought hers last Jan. A solid cheap awd car with alot of features for the money and gets 36+ highway mpg. Subarus are also rated number 1 I believe in resale value.
