  1. Looks like JB while admitting he was a bit too far east with his forecast is talking up his being the only snow forecast in the 4 to 6" range that may verify in South Jersey

He is a joke.  Just stop pumping him up already.  The very southern tip of NJ see 4-6 and you call his forecast as "verifying"? I, too, am LMAO at JB's claiming of victory.

  2. One great thing about JB is you will never have a storm sneak up on you! He can always see a way....even if only at 850mb!

I used to truly respect him and his forecasts, but he has lost all credibility with me.  After we see 1 to perhaps 2" with this event and temps soar next week his 10"-15" call for the rest of the season DC-NYC is going to bust miserably.  I just don't get it with him anymore.

  3. Correct - he has not backed off on no more "big snows" but is again saying today with a couple more snow events he sees from DC to NY with 10" to 15" more snow before the season is over - so no blizzard type events but maybe a 4" plus or 2 so a couple moderate events remain on the table

10"-15" DC to NYC rest of season??! He is on crack

  4. JB just posted on Weatherbell that we are 2 hours into the game and NAM already 1 to 3 degrees to warm around DC

He likes 3 to 6 around DC fading to 1 to 3 in NYC but getting worried the 3 to 6 carries all the way to NYC - With SE winds blowing into the mid atlantic states now the wave is not up there yet....

I cant see 3-6" making it anywhere near NYC or even PHL.  The onset of precip is being delayed here and the WAA push in the upper levels will increase quickly IMO.  Still think 1-2" with a short period of ZR in I95 corridor with perhaps a bit of an extended period in the NW burbs (Paul your area especially and perhaps even by me).

"A storm delayed is a storm denied"

  5. No....some/many of us wont....I purchased him for several years (and wxbell).  I think he's great, but for my level of need, it didnt justify the expense....thats all.

As many of you that dont like him (and his political rants...yes theyre a little much), many of us grew up watching him on weather world and following him on Accuwx.  I will ALWAYS appreciate his abilities....done.

This is JB about 8-10 years ago:

  6. you will all come around.  years ago I felt the same way about JB.  I even purchased AccuPro to read his blogs and watch his videos (Big Dog,Long Ranger etc), but after years of listening to him I came to the same conclusion of nearly eveyone who has followed him at one point or another.....he is always pushing the big dog, even when it is obviously not there in the slightest.

  7. sources??? Where did you get this info? I have said many times that if solar is affordable to the average person there would be a revolution in how we energize our homes. We could get off the grid or less dependent on the grid which would save the average person a lot of money. Last I heard a while back (from the news), solar still was quite expensive like 20,000 for a 2000 sq foot home. Is that still true?

Also, you don't need to spend any money most times to get solar installed on your home.  SolarCity offers a home solar PPA model that allows you as the homeowner to enter into a 20 year PPA with SolarCity with a reduced energy rate from your utility and includes no upfront cost for panels (you don't own the system)

  8. It is NOT a free market when government subsidies,( i.e your tax dollars) are assisting energy companies with renewables. All these "BIG OIL" companies which are demonized want to do is make money. That is all they care about and this is what they should care about. If  government subsidies help them make money they will develop renewables and you and I will pay the price....higher energy costs. If we decarbonize our energy sources it will be more expensive and punishing for the middle class and downright evil for the poor. The BIG OIL companies still make tons of money. Its the middle class scleps like you and I that foot the bill and 3rd world nations that suffer the most. This is all over a trace gas that has very little influence on the climate. This will go down as the biggest scam in the 21st century which ultimately will lead to more worldwide poverty and with that environmental destruction!!! Ever see the treeless country of Haiti??  Check out google earth sometime...this once was an island full of tropical rainforests....just look at Dominican republic which is not as poor they still have some tropical forests left.   Such fools...

Wow, talk about a "fool" if you believe BIG OIL isn't subsidized.  Also, renewables in many parts of the country are now CHEAPER than fossil fuels.  You need to do some research.

  9. Posted this in the Renewable energy thread, but figured this thread might have some more thoughts?

Ok, ok....anyone care to comment on this little study? Solar (if used at a large scale) changes to climate could be worse at a regional level than the global mean? I am confused as heel now (although I did see they mentioned the reduction in solar energy due to incresed cloudiness due to enhanced hydrolgic cycle of warming (something I mentioned several years ago on this forum).
