  6. 24 hours ago this was supposed to track over LI and into CT. Ryan posts here. He works for NBC CT. You think he is hyping this storm needlessly? I'm wondering. He flew home from Italy early to track this.
  7. The initial scale was developed by Herbert Saffir, a structural engineer, who in 1969 went on commission for the United Nations to study low-cost housing in hurricane-prone areas.[7] While conducting the study, Saffir realized there was no simple scale for describing the likely effects of a hurricane. Mirroring the utility of the Richter magnitude scale for describing earthquakes, he devised a 1–5 scale based on wind speed that showed expected damage to structures. Saffir gave the scale to the NHC, and Simpson added the effects of storm surge and flooding.
  8. I don't really care most of the board would kill to be in S RI
  9. Nah dude, you're right. It's nothing more than a light shower. You've outsmarted all of the media and meteorologists tracking the storm
  10. It's slowing down as we speak
  11. We've entered the vortex of stupid again. Possible gusts to 80mph in a crawling tropical storm is going to cause terrible outages over areas of the south coast.
  12. If you rip and read a qpf map you'd be right
  13. I'm very much not surprised you say this considering you are a member of the poo poo committee. 70 Mph for a lot of Rhode Island
  14. Some posters on here are incredible. Whining from an area expected to see widespread damage and outages.
  15. You're getting a direct landfall. Smh
  16. Not one damn thing is showing this
  17. "I don't see any tropical storm obs" well, ya, look at radar. The core is only just coming onshore
  18. Already lost the block island weather site?
  19. Interesting. I wonder how many will now poo-poo it. It's only a 5 mph difference.
  20. Just put me in the storm tracker vehicle and let me drive! I'd be happy with that. Haha, thank you
  21. The big question mark: can it maintain hurricane strength at landfall?
  22. Thank you to everyone who posted me sat links. We've stepped up our coverage big time this morning. News room is full of people. We have like 7 reporters on. our locations: Westerly RI Newport RI Worcester MA Falmouth MA Montauk NY Milford CT
