  1. Well, in this case I would recommend everyone prepare for possible power outage, figure out where water shutoff is, and expect travel to be impossible Sunday due to ice. If your home loses power and heat you will want to turn your water off. Euro is pretty nice. Looks it held to 0z. Might be locking in on it?
  2. Still convinced it will be more sleet than ice My gut tells me about 5 inches in RVA. Bigger thump than expected gets everyone excited, but changes over sooner than expected. That's my gut instinct
  3. Yeah, I'll check back in here January 31st for the 02/02 "storm" I remember getting burned last winter too when we thought Richmond would get a lot, then Hampton Roads got it all. Even the north peeps thought it would shift north to them. The reality for Central Virginia since 2000 has been everything tends to go North of us. When it doesn't it goes South of us. It's the geography from the mountains to the rivers.
  4. It will shift by then and we'll get barely anything
  5. WRIC being more conservative after getting burned last year lol
  6. I kind of think it will be a sleet and snow mix
  7. Well, that's the thing. My gut says we get smacked with snow overnight, then sleet. Freezing rain I just don't think will happen. I just have never seen rain with temps that low here from what I can remember, but we'll see. I will also point out that Euro shift was rather significant for RVA. I wonder if it will shift again. Here's the NAM
  8. I wouldn't be so sure of that. 12Z Euro has 4.7 inches in Richmond right before changeover. It’s trending back up. Other models have higher on 12z. So, we'll see. On to 18z and 0z
  9. I declare the Euro shall fall and bow dowb to tbe GFS. All hail the GFS On a serious note GFS has really been consistent the last 24 hours
  10. Are we trending boys? Are we back? Will it snow? Can I put the generator away?
  11. Welp, gonna test my generator tomorrow. @#$% Who would've thought the Canadian would kind of be right days ago. The continued drought of major snow for RVA is pretty wild.
  12. Nah, I'm a night owl anyway. I'll be up to see this Euro. I might need to double check my generator tomorrow. Got a bit of propane ready for my indoor safe propane heaters. I hope Euro runs earlier were wrong. Not because I want snow (I do), but I would rather have just rain than ice. It will be bad if it is. It will cause damage.
  13. Ice is pretty upsetting honestly. It's annoying reading the other thread where someone is just so happy they are in jackpot. Ice in my area near RVA is truly concerning. Trees weighed down. Smh Question though. GFS and UK still look okay, but is the snowfall total counting sleet wrongly as snowfall on pivotal? The thing is what is the Euro going to say on this next run. I dont believe GFS at all
  14. Two of Richmond's top 10 snowfalls happened in early March
  15. Final thought on the storm. I think it was the timing that hurt Richmond. If the sun had been down for most of that snowfall it would have accumulated more. There some melt that was occuring with that slow rate of accumulation. Beware of black ice tonight and the morning. Temps in the 20s where roads melted from.just the sun
  16. Sun melted a lot of the snow in North Chesterfield today
  17. Yeah, it is not easy numbers at all for the average person to find and verify. Like I said at some point yesterday google and AI was no help at all on finding such info. The NWS site wasn't much help either when I glanced around it.
  18. Seem be at about 4.5 now in North Chesterfield with this 2nd wave still going a bit.
  19. Welp, that is 13 storms now since 2000 where Hampton Roads got 6 inches or more and Richmond did not.
  20. One more yard to verify. So 4 inches. I overestimated only slightly. Hell might still verify if that 2nd wave dumps a shower with one more inch.
