  1. Agreed. I remember lots of 70 degrees growing up in Hampton Roads with rain to snow from a frontal passage, but never this drastic. Pretty cool.
  2. Rain/sleet/snow in Midlothian and just had lightning/thunder! Heck of a change from yesterday.
  3. Bring on spring! Looking forward to the warmup!
  4. Rain storms are legit too! Last July was pretty epic IMBY. Got over 12” for the month and 4.40” on one day alone. I regret not posting much outside of winter but will do for sure. Like that this board is getting good traction these days.
  5. Sticking to grassy surfaces…officially a trace of snow. If only it was colder, started earlier, and we were in Siberia.
  6. Correct. If NAM is correct I’m stoked to get warning/level snow out of this!
  7. It’s a reference to the last snow storm that NC got. Raleigh was modeled to get hit pretty good, but they got fringed on both the ULL snow and the coastal. Think they still ended up with several inches, but east and west got it much better.
  8. Don’t tease with Jan 2016 day 2! That band feeding central VA was glorious…both on radar and just watching it fall. Verbatim, the evolution here does look similar and we need to hope for that closer to the coast low placement. But yea, regardless of what actually accumulates, it would be great to see it.
  9. Flurries here. Nice sized flakes. If this keeps up for 365 days we might scrape 0.5 inches out of it.
  10. I couldn’t believe it’s still showing those crazy snow amounts this afternoon. 8 members for RIC in the 17-26” range….bitch please! Like you said, def entertainment value. I will say I refer to it for non-winter storms to get an idea for its qpf depiction. For straight rain storms, I feel like it’s usually in the ballpark.
  11. The extra 4 hours are devoted to making all the incomprehensible intersecting lines on his forecast maps.
  12. We’ve had multiple accumulating snows here this (meteorological) winter. Parts of the RIC metro are just about at average for our climate. We’ve had more than one season of being shut out or close to it in the last 10 years. The “big dog” snows just keep getting rarer. We do have ways to win with them, but I think this winter shows what our expectations should be.
  13. I’m intrigued to see this evolve today! One thing is for sure…whoever is just to the north of the cutoff is going to be screaming at the radar returns to no avail. That actually might be us in RIC lol but we’ll see.
  14. Still mostly sleet here, but starting to see some glaze accretion on mailboxes and shrubs.
  15. Hopefully we’ve dodged the bullet with the worst case ZR amounts. Just went outside here in N Chesterfield and it’s still sleet. Temp at 19. That slug of moisture to the west is somewhat worrisome with temps only getting to the mid 20s if it is indeed ZR by then.
  16. I’m sure that’s probably in jest, but don’t. Keep at it. This world needs more passionate people!
  17. Yep. I can hear the pinging outside the window. Not even gonna get out of bed to see what’s going on. At least you got some accumulation! I checked the 511 cam near Brandermill just to get an idea and it looks paltry.
  18. Same for RIC. Forecast was 24, and currently sitting at 20/-3.
  19. Ha, yea. I’m showing 20/-3 here in North Chesterfield. NGL, while I’m nervous about the freezing rain potential tomorrow, I’m kinda excited about not really knowing how tomorrow will play out and just seeing what falls…
  20. Being burned so many times in the past, I’m thinking 2-4” snow before we change over to sleet and then freezing rain.
  21. Wakefield’s map is probably more realistic, although I still think it’s overdone for metro Richmond
  22. lol, definitely a study! Makes you really appreciate the good storms we’ve had. Like 12/8/18. Looked to stay south of us up until about 24-36 hours before go time and then we got a foot easy. One of the nicest, cleanest surprises. Otherwise, here it’s just “here we go again”.
  23. Just saw the long range maps posted. Ughhh can we not be in the jackpot more than a week out lol.
