2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season

Things can change very quickly. People like to jump on current sentiment and extend it over the entire upcoming season. It is also pretty scary seeing how fast some of these storms have been escalating these past few years. -

Quite interesting! What can we take away from this? What conditions allow storms form but not sustain themselves? Just a coincidence? Also, 2024 as an outlier being followed up by another outlier on the opposite side of the spectrum is interesting as well. A sign that hurricane seasons are getting less predictable? -

Honestly, AI is probably the future for forecasting. AI in its current form is just an advanced pattern recognition program. It is already able to flag cancer years before it would ever be caught by doctors, so being able to accurately predict storms ahead of time seems like a good fit. And this in conjunction with actual human meteorologists will simply improve the accuracy that much more. -

2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season

I have a bit of a random question, and I don't know if this is the right place to ask. The most recent GFS model got me thinking about this. Is it theoretically possible for a hurricane to travel down the center of the Gulf of California and impact Arizona/California? Is the Gulf big enough to support a hurricane? Clearly a path as such is incredibly unlikely, but still technically possible. -

Whoa, latest GFS run is kinda crazy for the southern east coast. Really far out, but still. -
