Air bnb in lake placid. -
Heading up to Lake Placid again this weekend, this time with the boyz for some skiing on whiteface and hiking another peak. Looks like perfect conditions on Friday/Saturday up there. Sunny and 20-30 degrees with tons of fresh powder.

We believe it but 4 degrees colder than a place 60 miles away at same latitude is not believable.

Rochester being 3.6 degrees warmer than Syracuse and 3.4 degs warmer than Buffalo is quite odd. I've said for awhile the ROC thermometer has run low while Buf/Syr have run warm. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

As a lake effect guy, this winter was pretty lame. 2018-2019 was last good LES year.

Yeah long GFS brings us to middle of March with nothing. Would likely shut the door on winter. I don't think its a terrible pattern, something can pop up as cold air is close nearby.

I do. Used to watch the weather channel for hours every day. Has been a long time joke that my babysitters wanted to watch cartoons but I wouldn't let them. They were forced to watch TWC.

If you loop this radar you can see the LES off Huron. The stronger sun this time of year is preventing a stronger band from forming and keeping it cellular. KBUF mentions this in their AFD. although a strengthening sun should help to make the activity more cellular and thus less impactful. https://weather.gc.ca/map_e.html?layers=radar&zoom=7¢er=43.43077718%2C-77.38116418

I think the problem is the models have lake erie as frozen in their algorithm output. I looked at all the high res guidance and they all show literally nothing off Erie. It's a now cast event.
