  1. This was an extremely violent storm through here. I'm exhausted. Part 2 tonight. I'm thinking I won't have my phone near me. The alerts were insane. I'm one tired old lady. :-/
  2. Thank you for your emoji. More often than not I'm ignored here, so that means a lot to me. I used to have a wx forum where we had a lot of fun. I miss that. SE Illinois looks to be bad. SW Indiana as well. The confluence of Wabash and Ohio rivers are my location. I've spent hundreds of hours watching the barges go by. The locks and dams are especially cool. I'd be happier in a cooler, less unpredictable area though. Now that we're in PDS, well I'm extremely worried. Be safe everyone. That's sincere btw.
  3. Tornado watch 160 just issued for my area. I'm not real excited about this. I'm homebound now, with no real Tornado shelter. I can't believe I'm saying this because I love to watch nature do her thing, from afar of course. Cleaned up after 2005 outbreak, so heartbreaking. It truly sucks getting old. Cancer part 2.0 did this to me. Here's to hoping that being surrounded by oil fields will spare us. It has in the past.
  4. That would be me. Low pressure was so bad causing intense migraine, I turned off alerts.
  5. Oh boy are we screwed. Can't evacuate, no shelter, spine causing oxygen issues. Could pack up car and leave but surrounded. Thanks for posting!
  6. OMG! We don't have the infrastructure here for this. Last windstorm a few years ago buried the village, crushed houses with 100+ year old hardwood trees. Thanks for posting.
  7. Holy moly! That's us, surrounded. Reminds me of 2012 outbreak. Thanks for posting!
  8. I was born in sw Indiana but moved to California then central Indiana. I'm pretty sure I only remember 3 tornado warnings in central Indiana for decades. I moved back down here after divorce and it's amazing how much worse the weather is here. Unless it's been unusually violent everywhere.
  9. Thank you. I have to wrangle some kitties into their travel cases. Seems they know well before anything pops up. It's hard to get a kitty stretched out like Garfield from under the bed.
  10. Hello, It's been awhile since I've posted but as the name implied, I've been lurking. I'm in SE Illinois. Could someone post an image of what to expect here? I've had that 'bad feeling' about these predicted storms for a few days or more. I'm homebound due to spine issues and feeling vulnerable. I can't believe this former storm lover is now fearful. Smh In addition, the 15th is the 100th anniversary of the 1925 tornado that devastated the area. Thanks for all you do.
  11. This storm is a fail for me because of the ridiculous cold. We have snow, I have no idea how much, as it's blowing and drifting, windows frosted, can't see out. (I thought these new windows were thermopane.) Our local NWS isn't reporting how much snow. Maybe 2 inches, maybe 4. I can't stand outside long enough to tolerate the windchill to tell. The ground is completely covered, drifts everywhere. A couple of feet high along the road where the snow plow went through. Latest report: -4°F -20°C Humidity 65% Wind Speed NW 18 G 29 mph Barometer 30.23 in Dewpoint -13°F (-25°C) Visibility 7.00 mi Wind Chill -26°F (-32°C) Last update 23 Dec 3:59 am CST
  12. From Winter Storm Watch to Winter Weather Advisory, now Winter Storm Warning. Here we goooo.
  13. At almost the exact same time Paducah issued Winter Storm Watch and a Windchill Warning. Excellent timing!
  14. Hello, I'm new to this forum. I just want to say thank you for giving us the head's up. I've been an avid weather watcher for decades. Mother nature is fascinating to me. The snow and ice (flash freeze rain) is bad enough but the wind and cold oh boy! I'll be witnessing yet another historic storm in my lifetime, but this one has me worried. Blizzard of 78 was nothing to a teenager; However as time has marched on and I'm not so nimble anymore, I am NOT looking forward to this storm. Thanks again everyone for your hard work and head's up.
