Well that was fun while it lasted. Guess I still won't be using my snowblower this winter.
Note: count me solidly in the skeptical camp. The 12z Euro & 18z GFS were great because of the 850mb firehose from the east-southeast. That has trended downhill since.

What an absolute bomb on the Euro for March 4.

Storm going remarkably to plan so far. 2-3” then slot pingers & drizzle.

So is there too much of a good thing? When is it congrats mid atlantic?Atlantic? Too much blocking is always a bit scary...
Was just thinking the same thing. Congrats MVY. What a winter for them.

Am I the only one who thinks the Euro's evolution is a bit....odd? Like the primary tracks to Montreal and the secondary moves southeast away from us and somehow we pull like 2.5" of QPF?
The GFS probably runs the primary and secondary too far into the block. The Euro is overdoing it. Leaving the GGEM as reasonable?
18z GFS more in line with a surface evolution for a big dog compared to Euro in my opinion.

That is a miller b as noted in kocin-uccelini books. Some of our most historic storms come from that look believe it or not.

T-Blizz is right. I got both my BS & MS from UML. I got a 6 month old so my red tag has been a low priority.
At UML I did a quick research project on which storm type, A or B, gives Lowell the most snow. I went through the NESIS scores and determined top 5 obvious A & B storms. I don’t remember exact numbers, but I think it’s B by a couple inches on average.

right, but you think 18" is doable?
NWS has preset ranges I think. So even if the ceiling is 13". Still going to see 12-18".

Are we sure we want it to snow? God it’s nice out.

This feels like one of those events where we get fooled into thinking the cold air will hold off the warmth aloft long enough to pick up 4-5” here. But when the event arrives it’s pinging 45 minutes after precipitation starts. And the posts or “Bust!” arrive quickly.

Be careful about expecting inches of IP anywhere...seldom works out like that.
Be careful expecting >0.5” of IP always

Biggest barrier for many moving to NNE (who want to) is economic opportunity. Esp outside of the hubs like PWM/BTV and maybe you could include some of the southern NH towns like ASH/MHT/PSM.
Though the increase in remote work maybe be helping some for those who want a new landscape. But remote work is very white collar so that isn’t an opportunity for everyone.
But it still holds true that many just hate the cold up there too…lol. I def wouldn’t mind but so many other people I know who go up there to ski or vacation in the summer are always like “winters are too damned cold up here…I couldn’t live full time here”. I’d prob live in Rangeley in a bachelor pad if I wasn’t married.
ASH is a Boston suburb at this point. Average home price like $500k.

I swear, you must have fallen on your head somewhere and never recovered fully ... lol
You mean to tell me you wouldn't care if we had an intense ice storm which would break or kill trees and bushes, bring down wires, possibly do damage to homes...
I will send it all to your house. You can have all of that. I'll take snow and I'll take sleet.. I do not want ice
You must be new here. He's legit been wishing for a grid collapsing ice storm forever. Have to feel bad that his two weather dreams (grid collapsing ice storm; cat 3+ cane) likely won't occur in his lifetime.

Only a completely different topic.....stepped outside this morning and heard a bird call and my first reaction was "that's a spring bird." I don't know bird calls, but thought it interesting that my brain's first reaction was spring to hearing this specific bird.

Well for 1...I haven't used my snowblower this winter.
2. something about this modeled system isn't sitting right. It's a unique set-up as modeled. The primary LP tracks to Montreal while the secondary forms of ACY and never gains any latitude.
Not saying that unique set-ups can't produce, I'm just saying that I'm currently expecting 6" strung out over like 24 hours.
