    ...FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH
    FRIDAY MORNING...
    
    The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a
    
    * Flash Flood Watch for portions of DC, Maryland and Virginia,
      including the following areas: in DC, District of Columbia. In
      Maryland, Anne Arundel, Calvert, Carroll, Cecil, Central and
      Southeast Howard, Central and Southeast Montgomery, Charles,
      Frederick MD, Northern Baltimore, Northwest Harford, Northwest
      Howard, Northwest Montgomery, Prince Georges, Southeast Harford,
      Southern Baltimore and St. Marys. In Virginia, Albemarle,
      Arlington/Falls Church/Alexandria, Culpeper, Eastern Loudoun,
      Fairfax, Greene, King George, Madison, Northern Fauquier, Orange,
      Prince William/Manassas/Manassas Park, Rappahannock, Southern
      Fauquier, Spotsylvania, Stafford and Western Loudoun.
    
    * From Thursday afternoon through Friday morning.
    
    * Several rounds of thunderstorms are expected Thursday afternoon
      through early Friday morning with localized rainfall rates of up
      to 1-2 inches per hour possible. Total rainfall amounts of 1-3
      inches, with locally higher amounts up to 4 inches are possible.
    
    * Heavy rain in short periods of time will cause the potential for
      streams and creeks to quickly rise out of their banks as well as
      the potential for flash flooding in urban areas.

      IMPACT...Damaging winds will cause some trees and large branches
               to fall. This could injure those outdoors, as well as
               damage homes and vehicles. Roadways may become blocked by
               downed trees. Localized power outages are possible.
               Unsecured light objects may become projectiles.

  3. Here's hoping that everyone has lots of cereal, nuts and other things not needing a refrigerator.

    AND a manual can opener for opening tinned meat ((which doesn't need to be cooked)).

  4. I went down to Hains Point in DC this morning, and only one cherry tree near parking area 19 was starting to show anything.  Maybe in another week.

    There was quite a bit of flooding covering some of the sidewalks, even in some areas that hadn't been closed off.

    ...POTENTIAL WINTER COMMUTING HAZARD FOR THE BALTIMORE /
    WASHINGTON METRO AREAS MONDAY MORNING...
    
    There is a potential for hazardous commuting conditions for the
    Monday morning commute. A period of snow is POSSIBLE (a 40
    percent chance) before the Monday morning rush hour ends across
    the Baltimore / Washington metro areas with up to an inch
    accumulation on area roads. The area with the highest risk of snow
    arriving before rush hour ends is northwest of Interstate 95.

  6. The Hill of Doom in Arlington had two plow trucks going uphill, plowing in my side of the street.

    I wondered what pull some neighbors on the other side have with the county.

    But then a third truck went down the hill and plowed them in...
