  1. Only the first 3" here was semi paste. All powder after that.
  2. What part of Cranston are you in? I'm 1/2 mile from Walmart. There's over 2 feet on my street. They're big trucks with big blades but can only do so much with this amount of snow!
  3. First 3" was wet but once it started pounding at 1:00AM temp dropped quick and all powder from that point on.
  4. Looking out my front window I'm estimating about 2 1/2 feet on my street.
  5. Depth wise officially yes but as far as coverage in a larger area and drift wise no. The winds created much higher drifts in 78. Maybe because it started with wet snow in this one that held the drifts back some. I'm 65 and could not believe the mountains of drifts as high as 20 feet. Downtown Providence started dumping the snow in the river. They stopped because it started damming up at the bridges and almost overflowed the river. I would give this a close 90% to the 78. Here I had 3 feet on my street. There's probably 2 1/2 feet on it now. Mcgee talking about front end payloaders to clear the streets just like 78. One of the parking garages in downtown Providence had a drift almost to the top of it! This one by far is the closest to the 78. We've had plenty of big storms since then and anyone who lived through 78 all had the same thing to say until now. Big storm but doesn't compare to 78. Can't really say that anymore!
  6. LOL mine bottoms out on his belly and his feet are still a foot from the ground! Where he's standing is in front of the shed where the snow blower is. Snow is about 25" deep!
  7. Official measurement coming from the airport at 1:00. Local mets are thinking 25 when it comes out! I'm 8 miles north north west of there. Just went out to clear a path in the back yard for my little creamy Shiba. My Cub Cadet 3 X 26 auger housing is 21" high. Snow was average 4 to 5 " above it. Most of it is powder type. The first 3" was wet but once it started hammering temp dropped quick and all powder from that point on! 25 degrees currently.
  8. I can confirm that here. Every time it looks like it's letting up just keeps pounding. We're easily over 2 feet. I have no doubt we hit 30. Street is not passable. Over 18 inches on it. Governor talking about using pay loaders to clear the streets just like 78. This may not rival that here but won't be to far behind!
  9. True Blizzard going on here right now. I went to bed at 1:00AM with about 3 inches on the ground. Has to be about 15 now and close to 3 inch an hour now. Had a brief let up. Estimating 25 to 30 sustained wind with gusts to 50. No power for the first time in the 30+ years I've been here. Estimating wind because obviously no power no weather station!
  10. Lost power for the first time in the 30+ years I've been here! At 1:00AM had about 3 inches with a narrow strip of heavy snow coming through. Street was plowed. Went to bed and wake up to no power and close to a foot in the street wind high wind. Had to be 3 to 4 inches an hour at some point between 1:00AM and now. Probably still hitting 1.5 to currently! Radar showed a death band winding down.
  11. Finally hit insane here! Almost looks like a fog bank. Snow is in between wet and powder. Can make a snowball but have to work at it!
  12. Was about ready to go to bed. Snow been light to moderate with occasional short heavy bursts since it started. Wow did that change! Has to be over 2" an hour rate now with wind and temp at 30 and slowly dropping. Heavy bands finally holding together pivoting in from Nantucket and Marthas Vineyard over to here! With more building.
