Even with first mjo emergence of this Niña trades remain stalwart. inactive phase in couple weeks will shut down all talk of Niña terminating before April 

New upwelling kelvin wave emerging at depth now 

Trades continue to absolutely rip! the pathetic attempt at a downwelling kelvin wave is getting nuked now - no one actually expected one to push through during a strengthening moderate nina, i hope. The recent strong upwelling kelvin wave is now causing extremely cold anomalies to surface around 110W. Get ready for some equatorial cooling
