Given this summer... I am not surprised...
Let's hope for some convection later... otherwise we may be in trouble on the south shore...
Northport is just getting hammered this morning... Nassau into Suffolk North Shore looks to do fine today...

All those bust calls from last evening look silly now...
I’m on the part of LI that had zero rain July and august. All the thunderstorms missed me
the trees have massive drought stress and are wilting. Hoping this does it.

I’d say 2” is a sure shot in SW Suffolk right now. Nice to see

Never been so excited for rain.

Ugh for south shore LI. Not good

Daylight hours today for majority of NJ, except far NW will end up being dry. Was expecting much more shower activity today than what has verified so far. Need rain badly but not nearly as bad as south shore LI, you guys have just been in the worst of the dryness.
Can’t remember the south shore ever being this bad. The trees are turning brown and wilting the past couple weeks in my neighborhood. Cannot be good.

Miss the storms about 2 miles to my east and 1 mile to my north. Can’t make this up
All summer for me

ISP had 1.27 in July and basically all of it came from that supercell. Areas a few miles south had a fraction of that (Sayville area).
0.67 in August. Areas just south of that had a fraction of that amount.
0.0 for far this month.
Can confirm I had close to 0 in august. Maybe a stray shower that was it.

The just to the north has been my story all summer. I could hear the thunder and see the lightning two Fridays ago

West Islip here... Less than 2" since June 1... Maybe .5" since 6/21...
We really need this...

It will be interesting to see these trees with dead leaves on them-do they come back or are they toast. We have alot of rock here and trees growing in areas with limited top soil have all gone brown. Even the vines are dead...LOL
All the leaves here browning

You had 0.00 in August?
Correct. All the storms missed me. One by just a mile or two lol.
-
This rain can’t bust. I haven’t had measurable rain since sometime in July
-
Think I’ve had .5” rain this summer. The trees are wilting in my neighborhood. This isn’t good
all the thunderstorms and passing showers missed my town
-
The drought sucks for obvious reasons. But I’m absolutely loving this warm and Sunny summer. We don’t get this often.

What site? ISP's record for today is 91 set in 1995
I think farmingdale record high was 88 which was tied today.
I have the MSN weather client on my desktop and it alerted me to that
-
Looks like we tied the record high of 88 on Long Island today. I’m a little shocked that was the record and not higher.
-
Still nothing but sun and clouds in west Suffolk. Gave up on the lawn. It’s dead. Hopefully just dormant

Can’t imagine the .5 I got yesterday penetrated down to any roots. Drought lives on
