  1. Back home. Looks like I missed a wild week last week. Rain, floods, rain, southern snow, tornadoes and severe storms in SC, rain, and got home in the rain. I've had over 7 inches of rain in the last 10 days. That's very uncommon here anytime of the year.

A little chilly in California but I don't think I saw a cloud the last 6 days we were there. First time in the Monterey area. Very pretty place.

Someone help me out here: can anyone remember the last time western North Carolina had a rain that didn’t amount to 3+ inches? I’m exaggerating of course, but geez the forecast after mid-week. Forget snow, I just want us to get a week of no rain.

Can you imagine how muddy it'll be by Friday with 2 to 3 inches of rain on a completely thawed ground that is already super saturated? It ain't gonna be pretty.

  3. Forecasters are sticking to their guns as well:

    Ray...

.....This weekend is becoming less murky, but the water is not entirely clear. The takeaway is "light" for any precipitation that falls and "paltry" may end up being a better description. Light rain develops tomorrow afternoon with a light rain/snow mix Friday night but snow levels are generally confined above 3500 ft. or higher.

    GSP...

....Based on the fcst temps, high elevations again have a chance of snow.
Assuming only modest upslope enhancement to the QPF from the major
models given relatively weak flow in that layer, and the relatively
low mean QPF values from ensembles, totals may not even justify a
    high-elevation Winter Weather Advisory.

Ha! I only got a little over two inches. By the end of this awful winter we should have enough money to buy a bag of ice melt that we won't need.

In the next 2 months I'll need three 12 inch snows and a 8 incher just to get to my 30 year average. Don't believe we'll get there.
