  1. Took this about an hour ago up on black mountain. We are around 4 inches now. Been playing and jeeping all night, just like a big kid. Rates now are heavier than they’ve been all day.
  2. Moderate snow now at Black mountain. Everything turning white. Temp bouncing between 29-30. 2500ft. Drove up highway 9 to the continental divide and they had substantially more so far. Same temp
  3. All snow now at Black Mountain. Temp down to 30. Elevation 2500ft
  4. I’m posted up at Black Mountain after a 7 hour drive... we clearly love the snow. Only staying at around 2500ft, wanted to play it safe just in case cause I can’t stay past Monday. I’ll keeo you guys updated. I imagine I’m going to get all I want and then some.
  5. I’ll be heading to the cabin rental on black mountain in a few hours. Super pumped. My wife has never seen more than 2 inches with the exception of our ski trips out west.
  6. Thoughts on black mountain? I’ll be in a cabin there. Even with a Jeep, I opted to stay closer to the base with an easy plowed path to get back on I-40. Wanted to stay up high but couldn’t afford to get stuck through early next week.
  7. How do y’all think I-40 will be on Monday in terms of travel? Obviously this could be a huge storm but how well is it usually handled? I need to be traveling west on I-40 Monday morning from black mountain
  8. well I guess this is goodness news for those of us chasing from the south. Looks like we can go to Asheville and get hammered. That’s a lot better roads and infrastructure compared to other places further north we were considering. Hope it holds.
  9. I’m thinking about heading up to the Banner Elk area this weekend from Alabama. Here’s my question for you locals - traditionally, how will the roads be Monday in that area? I would have to go home Monday. Granted I have a Wrangler Rubicon that is more than capable. Just not wanting to get in a situation where I can’t get back. I’ve never had an issue in snow, even deep snow. Ice however is a different story.
  10. I’ll be chasing as well most likely, assuming I can get back home Monday. We usually take the Jeep and ride out a storm in the mountains every year or two. Driving up from Alabama. Would like to stay as close to home as possible so currently thinking about the Waynesville area. Went to Banner Elk last time and although awesome that’s another couple of hours on the drive. Anyone have any other location recommendations?
