WVLT met is killing me again. He just said "We've got some warm rain falling, it's not going to be enough to make puddles, but it will be enough to stave off accumulation for a while."
I've never seen anyone more obsessed with puddles and anyone so wrong about the dynamics of sticking snow.
so full of sh*t

Incredibly, snow has somehow begun to accumulate on roadways throughout the Nashville area despite temperatures around 70 earlier today. This phenomenon was previously thought to be impossible by some local meteorologists. It remains to be seen how quickly they forget that this is possible before the next snowfall hits the area.
Expect anything to be lost to puddles

What are we thinking the best deform band will look like? 2" per hour? 3? Maybe a foot in a half hour?
staying up for this, I'm wired. After the basketball win, I'm amped up

There's still snow in the shade... having some fun doing some pitching practice. Any of you guys like to nail trees from a distance

Accumulation around my area is odd, in the sense that the typical shady yards on a slope didn't do so well, and some people's yards will have a good inch while the next neighbor has nothing or patches, with the same sunlight. That band was VERY localized down to fractions of a mile

Holy geebers…..
.And it's just been sitting in one spot for hours with temps in the teens. They're in foot in 3-4hrs territory. Would love to see that here but it'd take serious arctic air, low sliding across the gulf, and getting REALLY lucky with the bands

I'd think you were all snow. Too cold in the upper levels for graupel, which is a partially melted flake. Looks like it was ripping there.
Yeah, very intense for a 10-20mins roughly, the type of rates that would bury a car in just 6hrs maintained
it ended just as quick as it began, though, but all in all great storm

They were mostly nickel sized with some quarter sized flakes. It's so cold the flakes don't get huge, they just fall thickly. It's slowed down some now but man, that was a ride. The HRRR runs that popped 3 inches over me is going to be close. Maybe a bit too light.
Didn't get video, but this was probably the peak here a few hours ago, lasted 30-45mins. May have been graupel mixed in but mostly snow, dense tiny flakes, low low low visibility

It's crazy how hard it's snowing right now. It reminds me of the blizzard of 1993. Flakes are dime to nickel sized but there's so many of them it's like being in a heavy fog outside. Plus the wind is probably 20-25mph at times. I assume I'm in a squall.
I definitely remember the squall from earlier looking like a dense fog, and maybe some graupel mixed in too, it was noisy. Roads were gone quick, maybe 10mins in that squall at 28-29F

Lmao at this NW flow event dwarfing the WSW and WWA events here. Roads haven't been covered in white all year. Low in the upper teens
