  1. At least it has it lol. Let’s see if it can keep it. The temps will sort themselves out.
  2. It takes humility to say a lot don’t know how to read models properly (I’ll say myself included LOL), that’s why I try to read more than I post. Mainly post for reacting to developments.
  3. Well, I find it always interesting to watch how things unfold. That’s gonna vary from person to person LOL. Whatever ultimately happens, I am in for the ride.
  4. Agreed that’s the only takeaway. It’s only showing GFS showing this right now. At least we know the pattern supports some storm at that time. It shall be interesting to monitor.
  5. It would be great if we can end Winter with a bang before Spring starts to approach.
  6. It’s longer-range, but the fact models are throwing that type of snowfall around Feb 14-17th period signals it’s worth the watch. As we all know, there are going to be numerous changes before we reach that date.
  7. Wow, thanks for the insights! Well written and explained. I genuinely mean that too.
  8. It looks like after the clipper system this coming week, the next storm signal would be around Feb 10th-12th.
  9. That March 2014 St. Patrick’s Day snowstorm was a good one. Not common, but when it happened, quite a sight.
  10. Thanks to all who share their educated analysis and historical tidbits. Very appreciated! I've been learning a lot by reading this forum. Learning that El Niño can help, but it isn’t the make-or-break factor I originally thought for major snowstorms, as the 1996 event showed. I also heard that the Knickerbocker Storm occurred without an El Niño, and look at the impact it had. There are clearly other factors at play, so it really comes down to timing. Large-scale patterns such as the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO), the Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO), and similar climate oscillations also play a role.
  11. It can be so unpredictable and that’s why there is a thrill in tracking it. Some times we are in the exact bullseye and other times we are in the snow hole. Never know what will be the next.
  12. The expectation is to see 20+ inch snow total maps across a wide swath of the DMV in some minds lol.
  13. Indeed. There is still a good bit of winter left to go. Another decent opportunity could still arise for us.
  14. I’m going to lower my expectations lol, but it will still be worth a track to see if it may trend in our favor.
  15. Just an evolution of the last couple GEFS. I got this from an individual on another weather site.
