FWIW it’s been over-performing over here in NE GA, so y’all I’m NC are gonna get it hard! Just be patient. .

Already an inch and counting here in NE GA, 20 miles west of Athens. Extremely heavy banding set up over us and caused a whiteout for a while. Still supposed to get some more convection bands this afternoon too. .

Snow in Winder, GA. Extremely heavy, wish I could upload a video but geez it’s thumping!! Already around 1” and heavy snow still to come in the afternoon! .

Absolutely pouring snow over here. Already half inch in 45 min and the heaviest is yet to come. Started an hour ago .

Snow starts around 10 to 11 and goes until around 4-5. Heavy rates for a couple hours possible. .

Oh man you’re gonna be fine! I’m still thinking 4-5” for your area. Seems like it’s just moving in later than they forecasted, but that’s better for heavier snow and higher totals because it will be colder than if it started now. More of a daytime snow for us then a morning snow .

There’s reports of heavier snow up in Cornelia making its way south. Where are you again? .

I definitely feel that! If radar is correct though we’ll see heavy banding between 1-3. Running out of time though and if it keeps getting pushed back we could end up with a dusting at most… idk we’ll see. .

I’ll take my 2-5” and call it a day! .

I hope so too. I’m getting a little nervous considering the start time has moved back like 3-4 hours and by that point we’d only be looking at 3-4 hours total of snow. Heavier rates could be more widespread due to temps, but this could easily end up being on the lower end with 1-2” out to Athens. Still remaining positive though .

Dang nice! Just hit the 32° mark but by the time the snow arrives, should be around 28° .

I gotta just completely stop looking at models now and just wait and go into “now casting” because models are stressing me out haha .

What do you think for Athens, GA and about 20 miles west of there? Radar keeps pushing back the onset further and further. .

Starting to get a little nervous. HRRR keeps pushing back the onset. Was supposed to be between 7-8 this morning and now it’s showing not until around 10-11. Has the heaviest snow in the early afternoon now. .

Man same!! [emoji38] I am definitely cool with that after this weekend though and I truly believe this is our best and last chance this winter. I’m fine with that if it verifies. We still have about 5 weeks left, but I expect February to be a lot more mild and dry. This January will go down as one of the coldest and most wintry state wide, on record. The last 2 years have definitely been great for us. 2 storms last year, and 3 Saturdays in a row where all of GA has seen some form of winter weather. That hasn’t happened before. Definitely a January of records for GA. .

Yes! This is gonna be a great set up for us folks. I’m right underneath a heavy band in almost every run. We will see. Optimistically skeptical is the best way to put it. The trends are great though and I think this ends up being more west than predicted. It’s looking likely. Enjoy it brother! I’m waking up at 6am to do my morning workout and stretch routine and will be done by 7, and thinking of going for a 7 or 8 am morning walking around the neighborhood. I’ll report back in the mid morning! .

I’m in NE GA, near Athens, and we haven’t gotten any love the entire week just because we’re not in the “heavy snow”, but we’re still looking at 2-4” and that’s really good down here! I’ve been active all week, but this sub is mostly NC/SC peeps from what I’ve seen. Models have trended west almost every run and have put us in a great spot for a moderate snow event. The storm also could easily shift another 20-40 miles west by the time the onset arrives, which every HRRR run has been shifting more and more slightly west for us and that would add another 1-2” for a lot of areas in NE GA. .

I’m definitely locked in! 2-4” was my original forecast 3 days ago and I am sticking with that and like the chances of that verifying. .

For NC? I was in Michigan at that time so I probably didn’t pay attention to the SE. .

I will say, our of all my years tracking weather and thousands of model runs, I’ve never in my life seen where the entire state of NC, every county and every city, all get accumulating snow. The entire state from N to and E to W is all going to get at least 1” minimum and over 80% of the entire state looking at 3-10”. Absolutely wild! SC has a 70% coverage for the entire state and GA around 60%. Absolutely insane storm lining and up and potential to be overall one of the biggest in the last 15 years for everyone on this forum. Oh man so you’re like me, you know extreme cold and extreme snow! Man Rabun is gonna be sitting pretty! 4-7” looks very likely up that way! I’m hoping we can get 3”. If we get 3” down here in Winder that’s a huge win! 3-4” would be our biggest snow in this part since January 2011! We had about 8” during that storm and the biggest storm in GA since I’ve been alive. I still think 2-4” for MBY is likely! .
