Huh. Rain sleet mix in Arlington. Didn't expect anything frozen at 10 PM.

There are reds right under me which must be sleet but I've yet to see or hear any yet. 0.6" and SN.

Mix line was advancing into DC/Arlington but has retreated the past couple frames. Hope

Don't know what it will take for the mixing line to hold off for at least another hour but I'm hoping it can happen.. -SN and a festive dusting in N Arlington.

Never seen this much black ice on neighborhood streets. Seems like there was almost a flash freeze when it it dark combined with no treatment.

Rates overcoming big time in N Arlington.

Snow and accumulating in N Arlington. Actually pretty confident we’ll get an inch based off the radar.

39 and all rain. Need the yellows to make a serious dent.
Let’s hope it’s not just yellow rain.

Is that some weak rotation showing up on the DC cell?

Wow! Look at those 70 dbz readings just north of Great Falls!

Pretty high impact storm in Arlington. 2/5 without power at the peak. I didn’t get power until 5:30 this morning, and I had power after the derecho!
-
Power’s out. Great storm. No trees down in the hood but a bunch of construction barriers at the nearby high school were blown over.
-
If the axis of heavier snow was 50 miles east on the models leading up to this “storm” this would’ve been a pretty embarrassing situation for LWX in the media. They’re lucky that the forecast for 6-8 wasn’t in DC or they would be getting raked over the coals.

Yeah sleet finally moved south and east of me, back to all snow here.
Nice. Radar looks really great for northern MD.

My friend in southern Frederick county just texted me that snow changed over to rain/sleet. Hoping that heavier rates push the mixing line south for the northern folks. Rain and 36 here.

Classic Arlington/SE Fairfax/Eastern PWC subsidence. But who cares when nothing is sticking.

Surprised to see a light snow/sleet/rain mix here in Arlington. Temperature at 38 and won't go down too much so I doubt we'll se an y accumulation. But snow tv is better than rain, I guess?

I don't understand how there's a small but visible glaze on plant branches when my PWS has read 33.0-33.5 for the past 5 hours. Is that just a function of elevated surfaces being slightly colder or is my PWS reading too warm by a little?
Jan 26-27 light snows

Hi everyone. I'm usually in the MA forum but I moved to the East Side of Providence in December. 2" here - more than I've seen in DC for a couple years!
