  1. 83-84 also had the notable March 1984 storm which would be quite a way to end a relatively snowless stretch of Marches we've had recently. Was that a bookend winter, Will? I know January was very cold (we had several very cold Januarys back in the early and mid 80s) but relatively dry.
  2. 83-84 is an example of a very cold and somewhat dry winter (I dont remember there being much snow but there was a ton of cold).... somewhat El Chichon influenced perhaps? I remember it showed up in some of the ENSO analogs posted in the NYC subforum.
  3. Even with a weaker la nina and a neg nao Will? I thought weak la ninas were supposed to be great for coastals.
  4. Thanks, those are some amazing radars, Will! Do you think that warmer water off the coast may have played some part and making the Big Three storms last winter exceptionally dynamic?
  5. Will, maybe you could use the one from Jan 26-27 also, I remember some rotation was detected a few miles south of here on radar just as the second part of the storm got going and there was loud booming thunder and vivid lightning along with thundersleet that eventually changed to thundersnow. It actually did feel like it was hailing as the sleet was marble size and I actually think real hail was reported with this storm (weird to have hail and sleet together along with a possible tornado in a winter storm lol.)
  6. lol I think it was Islip that has a total of 0.0 from December 2003. I guess we have to go with Farmingdale's 20 or so inch total lol.
  7. Maybe some of this was due to some abnormally warm waters just offshore?
  8. 6th 90+ day of the year here, 4th of the month
  9. Thanks Tony! Looks like TTN leads the pack of 89 degree days with LGA second.
  10. Did you hear about the 32 inches of snow that just fell in the Atacama Desert?
  11. Well 2 out of 3 hours with an 89 in between when clouds moved in lol.
  12. Are you sure? Here, look at this: 88 is the current temp but it was 90 for two straight hours prior. http://classic.wunderground.com/history/airport/KJFK/2011/7/9/DailyHistory.html?req_city=NA&req_state=NA&req_statename=NA Temperature: Mean Temperature 80 °F 74 °F Max Temperature 90 °F 82 °F 101 °F (1993) Min Temperature 69 °F 66 °F 61 °F (2005) 2:51 PM 90.0 °F 59.0 °F 35% 29.86 in 10.0 miles NW 10.4 mph 19.6 mph N/A Scattered Clouds 3:51 PM 89.1 °F 57.9 °F 35% 29.86 in 10.0 miles NW 11.5 mph 17.3 mph N/A Scattered Clouds 4:51 PM 90.0 °F 55.0 °F 30% 29.86 in 10.0 miles North 5.8 mph 16.1 mph N/A Partly Cloudy
  13. Looks like they may have hit 92 lol. It would be interesting if JFK was the only location in our whole state to hit 90 though. The south shore was 90-91 all day all the way out to Fire Island.
  14. If wunderground is right then JFK was the hottest place in New York State today and the only location that hit 90 (officially anyway).
  15. JFK hit 90 today, 11 short of the all time record of 101 from that classic mega heatwave of 1993 (same as the Park), with 100 to follow for tomorrow (102 for NYC).
  16. 91 here-- weird if the south shore of Long Island is the only place that tops 90 today lol-- Howard Beach, Long Beach and Gilgo Beach on Fire Island all reached 91, as it did here.
  17. 91 here before the clouds came in, 5th 90+ of the year and 3rd of the month
  18. You can see how much of an inland summer it has been by comparing the 90+ highs of EWR and TEB vs the city and its airports. Tony, was Caldwell in line with EWR and TEB? Im trying to think of some of the other urban NJ sites.... Linden, SMQ, BEL, etc.?
  19. This is definitely the hottest day of the summer. I hit 93 just before 2.
  20. 90.5 for me so far today so that's my 4th of the year and 2nd of the month. JFK seems to be stuck at 89-- let's see if they make it. As of 1 PM, Islip has just hit 90. First time for them this year?
  21. You forgot to add JFK's 91
  22. Yup lol, the tell tale sign was there were so many more of them there than there were anywhere else-- everyone else was within the same range and NYC stood out as the glaring exception.
  23. Im using it for my list because I had an extra 90 degree day that JFK missed. Also, its very useful seeing how wrong the NYC foliage temps are, because they had 3x as many 89 degrees last year as anyone else and if you split the difference, it brings them into line with LGA. I thought you would like that
  24. June is like September for 90 degree days.
  25. Tony, please list 88-89 highs also. I know one day in June when it was 89 at JFK it was 91 here....we had back to back 90+ here so we have 2 "hot" days.
