  1. Well the clock is running that is for sure. It gets much harder after Valentine's Day. Waiting out the next warmup is going to be rough. Friday still cant be ruled out but it wouldn't be much. The Happy Hour GFS is looking rather paltry.
  2. Yeah this one is make or break for the morale around here I think.
  3. Dallas, Texas now has a higher season total on snowfall than Raleigh for this year. The GFS is still trying for the 19th.
  4. Miss after miss after miss. We're going to be running out of time all too soon. We are on track to be blanked for the second winter in a row.
  5. If the 19th is a miss I am starting the Countdown to Winter 2024-2025 thread.
  6. 12z GFS is giving central NC that inch primarily from the 19th/20th system.
  7. I think it is about to get a lot busier in here with that 12z Euro run
  8. Those few tenths are cold chasing the moisture and we know how that usually plays out. Cue the Price is Right losing horn:
  9. Looks like up to 70 mph gusts coming for the western slopes of the Greens!
  10. NWS Raleigh AFD: Given precipitation type, it is still too early to determine details, but GFS forecast soundings show potential for at least a period of snow, mainly in the north and west. 12z ECMWF and GFS ensembles have trended more wintry, with a majority now depicting measurable snow in the Piedmont.
  11. I really feel this is going to be VA storm. We don't have a sustained cold air feed.
  12. Hard to believe we already have to write off January. This is looking like last year.
  13. the morning operational GFS wipes out almost the rest of January.
  14. It sounded like a tropical storm outside when the line rolled through. Definitely some high sustained winds for a few minutes.
  15. Winds definitely picking up in Raleigh. Just had the lights flicker.
  16. The Mariana supercell is a dangerous one for sure moving into SW GA.
  17. Buckle up this could be a wild ride even though it isn't the snow we have been looking for.
  18. Yep it is going to be a wild ride all the way up to NC tomorrow.
  19. The relentless ridging in the southeast. This year may very well be another in a long stretch of losses.
  20. Hard to say exactly where it will setup but they did say the mountains actually have a higher risk of it as well.
