Yeah it did. I believe there were some 70mph reports up in southern WI. The storm bombed out and went sub 980 near Chicago IIRC.
We need another one of those. Both winter and summer have sucked so much lately. Nothing but light rain or light snow.

Anyone sniffing out the Thanksgiving storm next week?

Never bank on warm lake temps keeping it all rain. Remember in October 1989, MKE got over 6" of lake effect snow. Same thing happened in November sometime in the 90s.

Point forecast has us down to 8 on Saturday night. Anybody want to take a bet that we'll have a colder lowest temp in the month of November than in December?
torch is coming back for december.

If I got to live one weather event over again I'd probably go with the December 14-15 1987 blizzard. Remember the buildup to that storm was pretty hyped, even back then with no models to look at etc. Remember watching Monday Night Football as the snow began and then ramped up. After midnight is when it really ramped up with considerable thunder and lightning, and periods of 60+mph winds. Had never seen anything even close to that as a 10yr old kid at the time.
That one impacted SE WI too, didn't it? I would have been 6 at the time and I think I remember it...

We won't see this warmth again until May along the lake.

holy crap -- 76 in MKE. Can we hit 80?

70 in MKE. Top shelf torch day.

How are you even putting these together?

As long as it's hot Christmas week in Tampa. Gonna be playing in the sand.

Who will be the last to see a freeze in this sub-forum? Not sure who is still in the running but I know ALEK and myself are. Not even a frost yet at my place. Anyone else still waiting on their first frost/freeze?
no freeze yet for me.

2000-01 is obviously an analog that will be floated around with it being one of the limited number of examples of a 3rd year Nina. Everybody remembers that December, which was pretty historic in some areas, but another thing I remember is how quickly that winter pretty much shut off in my area once January 2001 arrived. I went back and looked at some stats to refresh my memory about how bad things got. Chicago only received 8.2" between Jan-Apr 2001 (4.0" of which came in a March storm), which is the 4th lowest amount of snow on record during that time, and the lowest since 1949. And it's not like it became warm overall or excessively dry. Just horrid timing with it usually not being cold enough at the right time.
When that crazy December was happening, I wondered if we were on the way to an incredibly snowy winter. I loved getting so much snow that month, but it just quickly flamed out after such a remarkable start.
There were a few weeks that December where we had Winter Storm Warnings every other day. I'm glad it shut off in January or we would have had snow on the ground until May.
