Interestingly, the fatality rate in VT and NY is very similar (both low by national standards). Massachusetts is the safest state in the country to drive in-despite lots of talk about how crazy its drivers are...

In my experience, MA drivers are slow and drive very defensively/deliberately, at least on the highway. Like they are all 80 years old in a large Buick. This can lead to them sometimes seeming to be erratic on the roads compared to those who drive in a more "fluid and rapid manner." They don't react as you'd expect and take a while to maneuver, like when changing lanes or merging.

NH has its share of bad drivers. A classic around here is a lifted truck passing 2-4 cars at once on a two lane road right before a blind curve. I haven't been here long and have already seen some near misses with head on collisions.

I feel like I’m offending people on the Interstate up north going fast and feel like I’m doing the same down south but for going too slow .

That car is far too clean… tried to Google dirty Honda Pilot on interstate but didn’t come up with anything good.

I figured that's a pic on the way back from the dealership the day you bought her... LOL

Although when I get my car washed up north by the time I get home it's dirty again, especially between November and May.

  3. Not trying to wade into this debate, but I suspect we have much, much more and better data on the impact of alcohol use on driving versus marijuana use.

Legal weed is a new thing, whereas drunk driving has been around since the invention of the automobile.

I suspect being super high makes it pretty hard to drive.

I'm not too experienced with weed but one time after I had some edibles I was really messed up and there is no way I would have been safe to drive. LOL

The grass looked insanely green today everywhere after the snow yesterday.  Even where snow was still on the ground some parts melted out were like glowing green.

Spring snow must’ve been like fertilizer.

Wild to have the deepest snow of season in the upper elevations while it’s so green in the valleys.  I love this time of year.

First above average snow depth reading since the first week of December .

    Storm Totals:

    3,800ft… 15” (depth from 47” to 62”)

    3,100ft… 13”

    1,500ft… 8”

Really unique late season period over there for sure. I just hope NH dries out before I come back up in May.

Lol upper mountain natural snowpack at it’s season high of 62” on 4/20.  And I’m going south to Long Island.

That’s a crazy stat. Upside down winter for sure. Hopefully next winter comes in strong and lasts the whole way.

It’s the storm you dream of in early December.  It was 8-10 of pure cement followed by the classic overnight dumping of fake snow.  We would have still been skiing on that base if it was in December.  We picked up another 6 at 1800’ for a storm total of 12-14, which is settling down to about 10 right now, but above 3000’ there has to be close to 18.  Can’t get to it right now because of wind tho.  With an empty resort in a mediocre winter, it’s a nice last hurrah here.

Yep, sweet grand finale for a couple spots in the Northern Greens. The places are all shut down over here and have been for some time so even if it had fallen, it would be hard to get at it.

Bring on spring! This has been a long mud season.

18z ECMWF couldn't be more on brand for this winter.  Low tracks up into NNH with best mid-level lift up eastern NY into the Adirondacks.  Lows just want to cut inland this winter?

    Next...

    ...winter will be better, hopefully.

I enjoy the snow no matter what. But If it’s cat paws at 36, it’s a brutal torcher.

I will say I enjoy the summer more. Hated the heat even 10 years ago. But I welcome it now. It’s also easier to do so when summers are as warm as they have been recently.

One thing that has taken the joy of winter away, are these short periods of it recently. I don’t expect wire to wire, but it’s been tough to sprinkle in events stretched out for 4 months.  The cold season for me definitely has gotten tougher to deal with when there’s nothing to look forward to.

This winter only lasted like 3 weeks up here too. Starts late and ends early last two seasons.

Not uncommon for the mountains to randomly see their largest storms of the year in the bookend seasons fall/spring.  Big wet systems with plenty of moisture.

Yeah Randolph seems to do well in these. Should be a miserable day in Gorham while it pastes up on the hill. LOL

Yeah down below 200 feet you can prob just completely eliminate accumulations. Esp if outside the CCB intense banding. If you are under that, then I could see a few sloppy inches at 33-34F. But this isn’t a typical setup for late season snows. The ageo flow is too much out of the east. The antecedent airmass is pretty good though so can’t discount it altogether…esp in the interior elevations that are halfway decent with CAD.

No such thing as too much east flow in Randolph, I don't think?

Are you heading back north for this one?  Or monitoring floating in the pool in MD?

Tell the wife there's a heating problem, need to go check on it .

Mitch at over 2,000ft in SVT gets crushed on that run.  Remove all the snowfall below like 1500ft on this map and go from there.

Speaking metaphorically. I will be poolside for this one. Back up once spring actually starts at the end of May.
