Maybe just the eggnog talking, but the 18z GFS looks to at least be trying to give us snow on New Years. The front comes through faster than this last POS.

I was just thinking about blow over from the guns when they are going full blast. I assume the measuring is somewhere separate and protected.

Honest question: aren’t the totals from these ski resorts kinda biased by snowmaking? Is it somehow kept totally separate?

Here's my early January forecast for NNE.

I guess it hasn't really been a terrible winter yet in terms of raw snow totals. Randolph is slightly north of 40" now I believe. But these cutters are just brutal. Averages being what they are, I assume we are due to get clobbered here fairly soon. Having seen a small taste of how wintry it can be here, it really hurts to get these tropical systems. In MD I was used to this BS, but up here it feels abnormal. These cutters also seem worse than in MD. They hit harder and last longer IMO. The cold fronts drag and drag. Longitude is a bitch in these setups.

The GFS and CMC show the cutter too, just they have a little snow on the backside (bread and butter to cover the mudslides LOL). So it seems pretty locked-in. Just sick.

I am hoping the cold front is coming up from the SW and pushes that blob of heavy rain in SNE and off the coast to the west before it all trains over us.

In a lull for a while, but starting up again. No power issues or wind damage here. Just a small amount of water in my two troublesome windows.

Would a second giant cutter a week from now do it? LOL

Never lost power here. We have been lucky with that. Winds have died down, rain setting in now. Pack is gone aside from some piles here and there. It’ll be a total restart. I wonder if Bretton Woods will have anything left?

I didn’t realize that’s the measurement at the summit. Makes more sense in that case, I suppose.

Probably a 34 degree job. This thing has the temps, rainfall, wind, dews, and duration to be a legendary pack annihilator. It’s already drip, drip, drip here and there is still some sun poking through...

Oh yeah, this storm is going to consolidate the hell out of that base and have it begging for mercy.

Bretton Woods has been very manageable the last few days. I haven’t seen any crowds at all really.

I get that it rains here sometimes in the winter. That’s fine. It’s these bomb cutters I am done with. This is the second one so far. They suck. It can get warm and rain a little, whatever. Just no need to be some historic, greatest cutter of all time BS. That’s gotta stop. I have noticed in this area it takes forever for the cold front to clear us. It prolongs the agony in these setups.

I am expecting a total loss, but an inch or two of frozen glacier when the smoke clears would be awesome. I have about 12 inches around in most spots. It’s already pretty well packed since the bulk of it is from the storm at the start of the month.

Oh yeah, totally blanked on that. Keep an eye out, I hope this damned storm fizzles by some miracle.

Same here. My big windows looking over the field to the mountains tend to leak on big south winds. I am buying extra towels.

Gonna need a truckload of hand-churned Amish butter to cover up the rotten bread left over from this POS “event.” LOL
