Maybe 6 - 8 AM is what I would guess for Knoxville area
Another day off for the kids. Between the flu and flooding I think they are down to only a couple of "snow" days left.

Knox County schools closed today for the 3rd day in a row for flooding. I imagine they'll be closed tomorrow as well.

Will give it a few more days and then time to turn my attention to the garden. @Stovepipe been a great winter for turnips. Mine are still alive. Heck, I have a lot of stuff still alive since fall. Fava beans will go in once the ground dries out a bit. Seeds are sitting on my counter ready to go. Going to start my seeds this year for tomatoes and peppers. Been a while since I have done that, but we are losing places that have offered good diversity. So, going to get back to growing my own stuff.
I feel you brother. This year I'm trying something I've not done before with cool season stuff. In addition to direct sowing, I've started around 400 plugs indoors under LED lights. Got several different lettuces, mustard, chard, broccoli, cabbage, bok choy, etc. that I'm going to put into no-dig beds in 4 or 5 weeks. It'll be interesting to see how they perform compared to direct sowing the seeds. I'm going all in on peas this year too. I always seem to get this stuff started too late, hopefully this year is more productive in the cool season. I also got some heirloom tomatoes going under LED over the holidays. I don't expect the full flavor to be there but I'd like to keep some indoor maters going year round. Always experimenting!
Sorry for the off topic.

It looks like its throwing out about 3-4 inches in West Knoxville.
I initially was looking at tropical tidbits, looked like an inch or less, but pivotal does indeed show more.

I'll take the dusting the GFS is showing here. Need something to sweeten up my turnip greens.

Guys i think winter is over other than transient cold shots. They happen in the warmest winters. We are getting everything going against us for some reason this winter. Let's save this information and reconvene at the end of winter to see if i was correct or incorrect. Not being a debbie downer but being realistic and giving my opinion.
Might as well plant some veggies early amirite? March seedlings in January for the win!
(light cycle may be a factor, please do not do this)

Unless your're under yellow, it's mellow. Under green pixels here and not a flake. It has been a good run. Congrats to all that got flakage! Best of luck going forward to western and middle, you folks deserve a thumping. Not a bad start to the season here with two measurable snows already, however small they were.
(Canadians are laughing at us but I don't mind lol)

Dry air is clamping down north to south quickly. It's just a matter of time, let's see what we can squeeze from this next round.

The road in front of my house in the bluegrass area of west knox is just wet. My outdoor digital thermometer is busted but the mercury is showing under 30 here, maybe 28. Airport still showing 33 lol. 3/4 inch on the deck.

Its really interesting how the back side keeps regenerating precip. My line was at 730pm
.Maybe the plateau is working some magic. Funneling the moisture up the valley while blocking some of the dry air. I dunno, but radar has been fun to watch tonight.

I can't wrap my mind around why NWS Morristown hasn't at least issued an advisory.
How did that last band hit Maryville, any sticking to roads?

What I want to know is why do they keep increasing the totals in the SWS but not bite the bullet and issue a WWA? 1-2 inches is advisory level snow in the valley no?
My guess is that they think the roads are warm enough to not freeze over too bad. We'll see.
Knox county will probably send the kids to school on a two hour delay, which mine will be super pumped about.

Maryville, Alcoa, south Knoxville about to get thumped.

Largest flakes of the event for me right now, getting some quarters mixed in with the other change. Light to moderate rate, but very beautiful.

Dang son, that is impressive! I did not expect roads to be affected like that even on the plateau.
