  1. Remember that dude who lived in like Caribou ME? I think it was the valentines day ‘07 storm (?) where he posted his own map basically croaking all of interior new england when all the models were out to sea at that point? And he pretty much verified? Lololol
  2. I’ve been staring at the 00z HRRR loop like a cat stares at a feather duster on the top of the fridge.
  3. That was nuts. The wettest snow you can get without it being rain.
  4. Yeah, whatever layer that feature is most discernible. Sometimes have to increase the height contour density.
  5. I’m not looking at much data at the moment. But what does the back-bent warm front look like in the 700mb height fields? I like to use that as a rough dividing line between the good stuff and the lighter, more showery crap. Whomever remains to the west of that is golden.
  6. Decent live webcams like yours aren’t a dime a dozen in this forecast area. Yours is sweet. Cams like yours help a ton...especially coming into snow squall season.
  7. I like your webcam view. Use it at work at gyx at times to keep an eye on the wx up your way.
  8. Reggie crushes my veggies. That would bust some birches here.
  9. Maybe October 29th/30th is like November 5th in Back to the Future. When doc brown says: "It could mean that point in time inherently contains some sort of cosmic significance, almost as if it were the temporal junction point of the entire space-time continuum. On the other hand, it could just be an amazing coincidence."
  10. In the 10 years I've been up here, the last week of October always seems to deliver something off the charts. Whether it be highly anomalous snow events or widespread damaging winds it seems like there's something nasty every other year within 2 days of Halloween. In 2011 I also had a foot of snow on Thanksgiving. Then everything shut off.
  11. and I thought having the same thing Thanksgiving 1989 was strange...
  12. MODIS should rock. I just posted this GOES 16 visible to the GYX social media pages:
  13. Congrats SNE peeps for snagging this one. Great pics too. Bob, I went and plotted that 3 inch amount in 79 in Xmacis2 and it came up with the below location. I can't confirm if it's accurate or not, but it's probably real close.
  14. 12 years ago. Obscene snow amounts in Maine. I worked this event at Upton but I can't recall why that screw zone occurred in SE CT.
  15. I saw an amazing display one winter night up there over at Willoughby...I can't remember what year it was...probably 96 or 97. What time did you witness the best stuff Monday night?
  16. you and me both. I still can't get over that one. Waking up to a very light rain/snow mix and a couple of peeks of sun was a real treat after basically closing down the state 12 hours earlier.
  17. here's a google maps shot of the sheraton (labled A) and the candy-cane pained tower(s) directly behind the hotel.
  18. yeah, the most memorable vision engrained in my head from that day was some dude outside my hotel room window trying to clean off his car with lightning all over the place. what an idiot. like that guy was going to get anywhere in the middle of that. I remember him looking up at the sky in the direction of the tv towers after a close lightning strike and probably thinking he was next. Those are WFXT towers directly behind the hotel.
  19. yeah well, 4"/hr rates with rediculous thundersnow will do that to you. yeah, was supposed to be at the 'ol friday evening wedding. missed the wedding, made it to the reception (which is what counts, no?). I always smile when I drive past the sheraton in Needham on 128...and always will. What a crazy day that was. That level of thundersnow will never be matched again. I like to call that event "the december MCS with snow".
  20. Probably the quickest onset of S+ I've ever seen.
