Usually after a system like this, we would at least see a bout of LE but not even that is happening this yr and its starting to seriously BORE me to death. Wheres all this rain we're supposed to be getting, lol, unless its on its way. Up to 56F but not quite 60F but still nuts, nonetheless. I dont think Winter is actually going to show up this yr with much, if any at all, sustainable cold and snow so I'm putting this absolute dud of a Winter to rest because, if ya think about it, the next 9 days are toast with highs easily in the 40's and after that, the cold is transient at best with no HL blocking showing up anywhere. Yeah yeah, EPO's slightly heading negative and the PNA is a tick positive and all are rejoicing, including Bastardi which is an absolute joke. Basically our Winter consisted of the last week of Oct thru November and since it has taken a sabbatical perhaps to understand exactly WTF is going on with this weather, lol. So now, with Jan half kaput and with the rest of it looking MEH at best we're left with Feb and and a second Mud season in March cause Its already happened once and I'm not including April, as its absurd to do so. In my eyes, this has/is become the second Winter I've experienced without a Winter cause this is NOT going to automatically flip to sustainable cold and snow and stay there till the end of March and if anyone is thinking that then good luck to you and I hope it happens but I just dont see it, sorry. I'll be lurking of course and if this Winter continues on course, it will undoubtably become one of the worse Winters I've ever experienced, even worse than some of the Winters back along the Jersey Coast, and that's seriously no joke, but we move on and hope for a change that NEVER comes, lol! DISCUSSION...Extremely cold temperatures aloft continue to overspread the region with -40 C at 500 mb. Meanwhile, surface dewpoints remain in the mid 20s F, with boundary-layer RH otherwise high. With such cold temperatures aloft, lake-induced instability has developed with an occasional lightning flash noted over the past few hours. While surface convergence will not be particularly strong or focused beneath the upper vort, gradually veering and increasing low-level winds will maintain generally weak convergence, possibly aided by any surface lows/waves that develop off of Lake Ontario. Given continued cooling aloft, and possible pockets of surface heating later today, localized squalls of heavy snow may survive or redevelop downstream of Lake Ontario through the morning hours.

I guess ya gotta expect a dud every now and again I suppose, oh well on to 2020/21 then. I just wish we didn't have to wait for spring and summer, lol!

Well would you look at that, DC's even getting in on some snow action today with WWA posted. Well good for them and at least someone in the East is seeing snow, lol, cause it sure isn't the lower Great Lakes, but that may change just a bit this evening throughout Wednesday withnowrhaps some true LE ona WNW flow for hrs and hrs but I never believe it till its here cause it can literallybe 3 miles to my North, or it'll be 3 to my South so its no no lock for me, a WNW wind flow, that's for sure!
