Agree with this, within the next 3 weeks either it will deliver or we’ll stop hearing about potential.

Agree, either it will snow or it won’t.

Models going ham with the fantasy storms. How about a blizzard from GA to the Northeast

That is the most wild depiction of any long range run this year other than the Christmas storm that ended up cutting. Fun stuff.

Until we’re within 48 hrs of anything this winter I’m not excited about it. Not saying this upcoming pattern doesn’t have potential, but there’s also the high potential of something ruining it. Can’t think of any time where a total crap winter was saved by a March blizzard.

    So we’re due. Noted.

EPS is absurd for next weekend

there's pretty much everything here for a major storm

    • vigorous S/W digging over the Plains
    • decaying -NAO over north central Canada
    • highly anomalous 50/50 ULL
    • ridging building upstream

i would think damp air would make you feel colder than dry air at the same temperature and wind, given the specific heat of water, but it seems like the reduced evaporation might overwhelm that effect.  night like this feels warm relatively speaking.

if i was a real engineer instead of a glorified dilbert character i'd still be able to calculate this.  actually i might just do that idk

I believe in you. You’ve got this.

Right, because you know there’s definitely going to be a massive, historic KU climbing the coast with 24”+ and -30F below normal highs. There are no definites in weather and for the most part, in life

No one is saying that. You always go with extremes. Either it’s “warm, nothing, zip, nada, no snow for you!” Or you freak out on an imaginary person calling for a blizzard.

Yup NYC is so large there can be big diffs

I don't know if the 1.3 for this storm is official.

It’s definitely more than that but with cpk you never know what random way they’ll find to mess up the measurement.

This is one of the greatest things I've ever read. Just an all-time great. Monuments will be erected in its honor.

I'm much more partial to Prospect Park it's where I grew up.  I've always considered Manhattan and Central Park where the elitist of the elite hang out and I'm not into that kind of snobbery.  I also don't like the obsession over Central Park weather, New York City is a lot larger than just that one park and I feel the conditions over the entire city need to be taken into account when considering records....this discussion has been had on this forum ad infinitum, whether it's averaging of the park plus the two (or three airports if you also consider Newark) or taking the highest and lowest of all of them combined for the records.  I happen to support all of that since it gives a much fuller picture of the city than just one location which isn't even accurate in its measurements of snowfall, wind or temperature.  I've been to the Bronx Zoo and Prospect Park several times, just never Central Park.

Nice.  I've camped there many times.  Never had a stove in my tent though.  Might have had a Sierra Nevada or two.

We had a few more than just Sierra Nevada ;) Awesome night. Low was 14. Coldest it got in the tent was 21 when the stove went out. We averaged 68 otherwise. It snowed on and off of all day at camp. We made the most of this lame winter.
