Doing Stowe for the first time at the end of the week...Any recommendations on what is skiing the best and where the best woods are? How are the front four skiing? Trails like that I really only like to tackle with really good conditions so I'm not in over my head.

Mt. Snow yesterday. Started off kinda crappy with lots of ice and hard pack but got good by lunchtime with the 3-4 fresh. Even during snow, there are a couple trails on the north face that just stay slick no matter what; jaws in particular.

Jay today...foggy up top but the snow was incredible, especially the woods.

How was the north face? Looks like they finally opened some of the natural trails over there,

Yep...great trail; seems like it goes on forever and has that middle of the woods feel. Castlerock run and paradise were good too. Didn’t hit rumble because the cliffs on Liftline to get in looked slick and beat and with those conditions, they were probably past my ability level. Looking forward to getting back in the glades at jay next week. They should be sick if the forecast holds.

Went with your reviews and did sugarbush instead of k-mart today. Any blue groomers off super bravo were slick and beat. Castle rock was by far the best area. The snow quality held up well, tho you really had to watch the rocks. they have a decent base, but def need the refresh coming later this week..oh, and the top of mt. Ellen like f.i.s., death trap until they refresh. Great day tho....my advice would be to just stay in castle rock or mid mountain blacks on mt. Ellen the next couple days if anyone goes up.

Classic jay day today..moderate snow all day, frigid temps and deep powder woods. The glades skies awesome and there was about 10 fresh. NNE mountains did really well. The top chutes were deep as hell. Crossover trails a little icy but overall, what an amazing day!

Jay put on their snow report to basically, stay home this weekend. They all but guarantee any upper mountain lift will be on wind hold and don’t expect this weeks conditions (like pf is posting from Stowe). I would expect the same all over Vt. Killington, Stowe and jay did really well this week so I don’t think this weekend’s crap will be a total wipeout. They should recover quickly and next weekend looks better.

Killington is kinda crispy out there despite about 2-4 fresh. Anything with pitch is pretty slick. Might just be spoiled after last week in the glades at jay. Still enjoyable though, as long as you know what’s under the surface. They do have the mountain lit up with guns, trying to re surface.

Another 6-8 out here at jay. Friggin awesome out here. Dropped ropes on almost the whole mountain and the woods are sick. Tram went on wind hold at lunchtime, but the freezer is still spinning.

I think coverage is fine..was there last week and they had blown a TON of snow during that cold few days..might be icy; not sure how they got thru yesterday but the coverage was there.

What a needed refresh this was up at jay..it was almost unskiable earlier in the week, but it’s just enough packed powder today. They dropped a ton of ropes even in the glades. Awesome out there and it looks like we could get a good upslope dumping in the next few days. I would guess stowe is much improved as well.

Lots of very thin cover up here at jay..they really need the upslope machine to kick on. Better conditions two weeks ago in southern vt.

Jay vs. sugarbush tomorrow? i know anywhere is going to be crazy but which one for less crowds and better conditions? Sugarbush looks like they have a ton of open terrain compared to jay and the freezer isn’t running yet at jay so all that terrain is out, but the glades at jay look pretty decent right now.

Looks great out there and I would guess you added to that today. Want to see how everyone gets through this cutter and maybe head up toward the end of next week. Any other ropes drop today or expected this weekend?

Another awesome day at mt. Snow. Steady snow all morning at the summit, packed powder and the they haven’t really touched the north face. It really feels like mid-winter out here. Southern Vermont seems to be leading the way in conditions right now but I can’t wait for stowe and jay to catch up so I can get up there. Anyone been out up north today?

Hunter the place to be for this storm? Maybe they get Hunter West open.

Mt. Snow was awesome today. Really impressive terrain for pre-thanksgiving. Lots of guns set up too so it looks like they are ready to go wild once temps drop toward the weekend. Would add a photo but it looks like the size is too big.

Been a skier all my life and last year decided I wanted to learn to snowboard. So I rent a board, head out to the bunny hill and figure I can "teach myself"...3 hours later, I left with what might have been a dislocated thumb and a very sore ass. Cant remember ever being so sore the next day after a trip out to the mountain. I did wind up taking a lesson and put a lot of work in last year so I'm hoping to enjoy it more this year. Point is, no matter how the sport beats you up (ski or snowboard), it is addicting and there is nothing better than a great day out there to clear your head and feel like a kid again.

Anyone know where Killington usually goes after Rime and Reason? Thinking of heading out next week and it looks like they will be blowing 24/7 with the upcoming temps. Just want to see if I'm looking at only those two or they have moved quickly to get terrain open in the past.

A lot of action out on the north ridge cam at killington right now..looks like snow making might start for real today.

Killington hitting the top of Superstar this morning. Anyone know if that is normal for them to blow on Superstar this early? I thought they usually hit Rime and Reaon on the North Ridge first.
