Sounds close to what I'd had set in mind

Obviously you’re gonna get some individual specimens that normally need full sun, thrive in a shady spot. And vice versa. Also, if you’ve seen a deer within 2000 miles in the past decade, do not plant hostas. Or Black-eyed Susans, or cone flowers.

Does it have to be grass or would a nice green ground cover work for you? I'm not sure how big a yard you've got, but a smaller lot with nice ground cover with crushed stone paths leading to a patio seating area is very do-able and easy to maintain. But if you have a larger lot, kids, or are trying to make a play area, it would depend on the degree of shade. Fine fescues do well in shade, but they are not as desirable as tall fescues nor as durable. If there's enough light filtering through, you may get away with a tall fescue.

The southwest side of the fence will probably be very shady but azaleas and rhododendrons do well in those situations if you want to put a garden bed along the fence.

The moss may be an indication of poor soil. From my experience, rhodos don’t do too well unless they’re in complete shade, with good, moist soil. I agree with the azaleas.

  3. How can you be so confident? I would really like to know in great detail. My problem is that I am not brainwashed enough. I am just a rabid human in pure form, outside the confines of society looking at the situation objectively.

True story. I wish I could sleep at night again. At least I have the balls to admit it. Will you not accept that some people deny global warming for non-scientific reasons? If you can't then you are off-base and have no right lecturing me.

My God you've absolutely lost it. Screw AGW... I'm now deeply concerned about you. Here are some websites you may want to visit-

It's sad what's happening. You are a casualty in the war against climate, and somehow you've maintained only indirect contact with said climate, yet have experienced great mental deterioration on a level previously thought unattainable when dealing strictly with abstracts.

And before you jump down my throat for being a "denier", I'm not. I know the Earth has warmed. I'm a denier of the quoted madman's writings above.

  4. The first HECS in February completely missed New England, as well as Manhattan. The second storm was a painful bust for SNE, and then the late month "Snowicane" brought a HECS to NYC while SNE received 40 degree wind-driven rain. I almost felt bad for SNE that winter, but at the same time I didn't... the key word is almost

People who whine when they get above average snow, just because places further south are getting more, annoy me. They think they're entitled to always get buried.

When more southern locations (as in SC Nov. storm) receive higher snow totals than my area, it doesn't really bother me. It's a lot more difficult for them to get snow than us. But when northern areas get snow, it's sometimes annoying lol.

We get it, you get more snow than us :(
