It’s a little sticky out there today. Is the coc crew hiding in their moist basements today waiting for the monsoons to pass?
-
You think we might get a good soaking later along the south shore? I’m internally debating whether to give the ol doggie her anxiety meds to calm her down with the storms approaching. Any time we get even a little rain she just goes insane.
-
Back into hibernation mode we go until a nice, good ol’ fashioned tropical system brings the good vibes north once again. Or we wait until Christmas morning for our usual early spring preview!
-
Yeah the sky just didn’t look right at all today and honestly I haven’t felt my best at all. I wonder how much of an effect the smoke has on our mind as well as just our vitality in general. It’ll be great when this crap finally clears out of here as it sucks to have precious days at the tail end of our summer season robbed like this from us. Something tells me the models are struggling to handle the smoke with regards to temp output as that does tend to throw a wrench into sensible weather conditions.
-
On a positive note our friendly backyard turkeys have returned for the upteenth time this season to dine on dropped sunflower seeds. It’s pretty cool to see them just trotting out of the woods out of nowhere and casually making their way over to the feeders.
-
I keep waiting for this layer of crap to burn off but this air mass does not want to budge. Friggin reminds me of the rotting ulls we tend to get in mid April that take an eternity to depart. And of course, that damn smoke way above isn’t helping our cause either. I guess we embrace the smoky, salty and moist cocs for the next few days?

We just gave our little bichon a veterinary approved sedative to calm her down for occasions such as this. She really struggles to deal with any of these types of weather events. I swear they must be able to sense when the pressure is dropping as she will literally be shaking hours before any storms roll through. Meanwhile our borderline feral outdoor cat barely even flinches when he hears thunder. Talk about polar opposites lol.
-
That little zone of suckage kind of reminds me of our annual late April/early May week of crappiness with a rotting low pressure system centered over the Great Lakes/Ohio valley. What a shame that type of nasty pattern can’t wait until at least mid September when the season is supposed to wind down. Who knows, maybe it won’t be quite as sustained as the models indicate.

It’s been so beautiful here most of the day but all of the sudden the sky is starting to dim a little and I strongly suspect we’re getting some influence from the wildfires burning in Canada. It almost reminds me of that solar eclipse we had last April but obviously nowhere near as drastic. One of my relatives actually sent me this cool shot from scituate this morning near the harbor. I’m pretty sure there’s some smoke mixed in the background with the sunrise. Either way, pretty interesting to see.

Of course. Maybe climate change ain’t so bad after all.
-
Hey I’d take days like this in the winter anytime. There’d be no complaints at all from this guy.
-
Just had a quick shower roll through. Was actually nice to see with this bone dry airmass over us. I will admit it does feel comfortable being outside but I wouldn’t mind another period of typical summer weather before the door fully closes on us, just to squeak out a few more beach days. It just never seems to last quite long enough in this part of the country but I honestly can’t complain amidst the backdrop of rising temps and much more tame winters. For now, we embrace the drier but still warm coc s of the back half of the season!

I’m literally sitting on my lawn chair wrapped in a blanket with a hoodie trying to simulate the feeling of actual summer weather. This is not summer, and never will be. I’m booking a vacation to Myrtle beach as we speak!
-
And then we bring back in style in too right around Christmas as the days start getting longer again. Enjoy the coc while it lasts.
-
Who turned on the giant firehouse? My goodness, it’s friggin pouring out! Get the dingy boats ready, the waters on the rise baby!
-
Feels like a typical day in San Juan on the beach with occasional warm showers that you barely even notice. Absolutely beautiful baby!
-
Looks like a few good downpours are about to blow through. Any moisture coming up from the south is almost always a guaranteed insta-soaking around these parts, thanks to the dozens of swamps and rivers located nearby!
-
Can’t believe it..just got back from a nice walk in the woods and for the first time in weeks I barely ran into any of those dreaded flies or mosquitoes. I’m sure tomorrow will be radically different with the airmass changing but that is a true and much appreciated anomaly around these parts! It’ll be great when the sun makes a comeback too, it’s been so damn dreary the last few days.
-
Funny how a dp around 70, which is normally considered oppressive around these parts, actually feels fairly comfortable relative to the last several days. I imagine this is what sfla is like after a weak ass cold front meanders through in the middle of January.
-
Dumping here right now. Had a few good cracks and the heavens have just opened up! Of course, the little doggie is terrified but it’s great to finally see some solid moisture coming through.
-
I mean while we get our usual localized cooldown at some point you can’t deny that overarching trend of baking heat and ridging way above what was considered normal in the meteorological domain. Without sounding like a total doomsayer I honestly feel like these trends will have irreversible effects well into the future that models will struggle to pick up on until as tip would say, is simply no longer possible to ignore.

Days and days of sweaty coc s and the odd wild turkey standing on our porch for whatever reason. Ya gotta love it!
-
I’m literally just sitting out on my porch right now shirtless and listening to the chirping cicadas after a nice hot shower. This is what it’s all about in the swamps of sne! Embrace it baby.
-
It really is a classic summer evening. You can see frogs hopping around, cicadias chirping, the odd firework going off. It’s truly a magical time of year! Now if only I could figure out how these darn moths and June bugs keep getting inside, then this evening would be even better. Those things are popping up everywhere!

86/75 It’s a sweaty, steamy swamp out there today. Fire up those grills, get your pina colada’s poured and embrace the doggy dog days of summer baby!
