Currently in Salt Lake City, left yesterday for a conference….I see you guys got a little surprise snow last night.  Starting to see a trend that when I leave town it snows.   Hope it keeps up and eventually you guys start paying me to go on vacation in the winter

No more snow in sight for Ohio, I'm afraid. Next storm is another Minnesota special and after that a SEaster..

The evolution of this system is rather interesting. A split jet stream pattern will lead to a pair of sfc lows, one in north central Plains and other in south central Plains. They will be attempting to phase but may not do so till the east coast where a bigger Nor'easter looks to develop. The northern low will help pull up moisture from southern stream system and create a swath of precipitation similar to today's event albeit more nw to se oriented. Better chances of snow once again may be I80 north with mixing issues south of there. However, things are subject to change based on degree of or lack thereof interaction between the northern and southern stream systems.

18z GFS is calling for 5" of snow on south edge of snow in places like Cincinnati..

Well, we've seen some outlandish model solutions for this one at times.  Obviously still plenty of uncertainty but there's enough of a signal for an impactful event.  At this time, it appears the southern half or so of the subforum is more favored, but we'll see how this trends in the coming days.

Trending north, unfortunately for me. Earlier, Cincy was supposed to get 24", now zilch. Indy earlier was supposed to get 30" (!) now much less. The highest I see now is Fort Wayne with 21"...

Oh wow nice. I was just going by whatever the official numbers were.  My memory is foggy where the best stuff was, I just remember it was a good storm here, but epic somewhere to my south. Losing 2 feet in a week, that's east coast style lol.

My brother in Cincy said about half of his was ice so he only got about a foot of snow.. Mine was all snow..about 20°..

3X was a bit of a stretch (forgot to add Sunday's event) but not by much. With Sunday, I'm at 8.8" so "only" 2X in a place better known for T-storm wx. The ref to 04-05 was the Christmas storm that buried that area Louisville/Cincinnati. They must've been ahead of DTW early on regardless of the seasonal total.

Ah ok. Basically, our "noteworthy" events this season have been Nov 12, Nov 19, Dec 23, Dec 25, Jan 22, plus the usual traces and random dustings. Since none of them were great, I couldnt remember what was what, I just knew the south burbs were "favored".

Regarding the pre-Christmas 2004 storm, I think it was Indiana and southwest Kentucky that were slammed? Cincinnati had 9.4", Detroit had 8.9", & Louisville had 7.8".

I was west of Cincy during that pre-Christmas 04-05? storm and was in the bullseye. Two day storm, each one delivered a foot. 24" was the most I've ever seen. Incredibly, it was all gone in a week!
