A few more flakes in Newtonville this time compared to the light flurries before dawn.

Steady 1/2 S in Newtonville. Coating on most surfaces.

Im sure this has come up but ... does anyone know why the NWS changed public access radar displays - what’s their goal in doing this particular migration ??
Flash being discontinued on most (all?) browsers as of January 1st.

Yeah, surprised how well the pack held up today. Still lots of cover around.
Although the outdoor rink in Brookline was puddle-like when we took our daughter skating. Couple kids in short-sleeves too.

Unexpected coating on all surfaces this afternoon.
Thought for sure it would be just sprinkles.

Completely unscientific top of car/patio table measurements where I am in Newtonville is roughly 11".
S-/S snow still falling.

Only bummer about this is we have a 2020 "snow day" today. Our daughter is going to be looking out the window all day asking when we can go play.

It’s funny but the pandemic kind of eliminated snow days. Everyone can do it from home for a day.
This is true, but let's see how tomorrow goes. I all my daughter wants to do is go play rather than being on zoom all day, then bring them back next year.
But yes, for this year, lets not burn them so we can end this crazy year as early as possible.

No longer true. Measurements are normalized now and at the airport

BOX has 53% chance we get over 12 inches in Boston, but calls for 11? Doesn't matter, but interesting. They probably just don't wanna use the 12-18 paint.
Because they know Winthrop won't get over 10 with this set-up and that will end up being the official number?

Under a decent band in Newtonville, but it's basically white rain.
-
Had to run up to Lincoln, MA. Snowing and everything is coated.
-
If only we had a better airmass to start.
Pouring down rain and 40* in Newtonville.
-
Roaring just above the tree-tops.

I'm terrible at guessing gust mph, but know when it sounds impressive, it's pretty quick.

Everything untreated is covered. Hasn't quite stuck to the main roads yet.
Fluctuating between S and S- so far.
