  1. The underachieving continues... 1 whole inch today. Moreover, some decent returns over my house pretty much the entire afternoon including now, yet nary a flake.
  2. 4.0" from the little event today. Slowly creeping upward for the season, but I certainly am missing any bigger snowfalls thus far. This winter is totally lacking in that department imby, relative to what I have experienced the other 14 winters living here.
  3. 3.0" here overnight - cracked the 100" mark for the season. Should tack-on some more thru the rest of the week, adding to the nice little winter look & feel.
  4. Only 0.2" overnight. October, November, and January each ended up below average in snowfall. December was above, but obviously nothing like other parts Erie County (even though ERI December reported totals were much higher than what actually fell imo). Overall, only 10" below where I am typically at and the end of January, but seems like alot more "wouldofs and couldofs" than usual. A winter of disappointment and underachievers imby.
  5. Indeed a surprise...a "glaze" and "1/4 inch" of ice are not synonymous imo. Went to the top of our big coaster about 2 hours ago. A far as I could see, not a lick of ice, save for a little along the shore. Maybe some lake enhancement will be in play. Looking west: Looking east
  6. 1.5" overnight as of 7am (thought it was going to be more glancing out window couple times during night). Nice tidy 10.0" event total thus far. Not snowing as of now.
  7. 4.8" today thru my 11pm measurement tonight = 8.5" event total thus far. Snowing nicely now, although quite windy with poor flake size.
  8. 3.7" of fluff overnight as of my 7am measurement. Snowing at a good clip now, nice flake size. We shall see how the next couple of days pan out.
  9. Heavy snow at work right along the lake, pretty much sun-bathing weather imby...color me surprised. Went up to the top of our roller coaster today to get a few pictures of the Lake and open water / ice, but to snowy and cloudy to do any good. Lake is very slushy, but still open and waves rolling. Here are a couple shots from the crest of the lift hill:
  10. Maybe this should be in the general LES thread for anyone interested, but will put here. I was up at work today clearing the snow at our Park right on the lake. Later, I went into communities along the lakeshore from Fairview to Presque Isle and into the city of Erie proper. I will say, as Trent mentioned above, that those numbers reported at the airport may be a tad overdone. I realize there is settling, compacting, blowing, etc., but the snow depth really does not indicate any 60+ inches of snow since Sunday night. There may be a snow pack of 24-36" in spots, and not even that in the City. Even the piles, walkways, driveways etc after the plowing and snowblowing, just does not seem that 5 feet fell. Moreover, the original 5pm airport snowfall total on Christmas day was 13.6", and then was later upped to 21" due to some "measurement error" related to blowing/drifting. Dont get me wrong, they have some serious snow up there, but it is not as draconian as the news reports would suggest imo. Route 430 in Harborcreek and Greenfield townships, just east southeast of I-90 running parallel seemed to have the most snow.
  11. Brutal gradient here. 42.4" for the season, north of 100" 14 miles to my north. What an anomalous season.
  12. 53" at the Erie Airport yesterday and today. 34" yesterday alone. Has smashed all Erie snowfall records and the PA state two day snowfall record. Band is again right back up hugging the lakeshore, jackhammering the airport via the live webcam. http://www.yourerie.com/skycam-cameras/erie-international-airport-tom-ridge-field-skycam Amazing on one hand, so very disappointing on the other due to yet another miss, this one historic.
  13. Thank you for that explanation, makes sense. Not a total loss, from yesterday evening/overnight last night, had 4". A quick 3" in about an hour this AM before the band lifted north, then about 1.5" for rest of today/tonight - so 8.5" thus far from synoptic & LES. However, think it's time to move on from this paltry Edinboro area snowfall Hopefully going to be closing on a property right after the Holidays that will take me where I want to be, eastern Erie County, right on PA/NY border next to the Peak ski resort. Least populated area, about highest elevation in county (1750'), and I think its the snow capital (200"+ average annually). On Weeks Valley Road, north of the Wilderness Lodge Cross Country Ski Resort. 10 acres with a cabin, will use as a camp / rec area for the next couple of years then build our dream home with the wife and our pups. Means I am going to have to track snowfall at two locations now...
  14. Record Christmas Day snow in Erie along the lakeshore. 13.6" as of 5pm, must be pushing well past 16+" for the day now . KERI up to about 55" for the month of December, way above average, think it is 5th snowiest ever recorded. Meanwhile...down in the "snowbelt"...the winter of nothingness continues. To rub the proverbial salt, and I seek knowledge from you folks, can someone explain how the current very well defined intense band of LES lined up perfectly west to east heading directly into western Erie County, that would appear wants to pummel the 6n corridor, only to turn up the shoreline and hug the lakeshore as soon as the band hits the western Erie County line. Maddening. Merry Christmas everyone, although feeling rather scrooge-like with another LES fail IMBY.
  15. My word, CLE certainly beefed up their snowfall map. Don't quite think those totals will verify. Regardless, will be nice to see some flakes flying the next few days. Merry Christmas Eve everyone.
  16. From 7am yesterday morning until this morning, I just recorded in my snow tracking file 2.5" of new snow for that 24hour period - yielding an event total of 4.5" starting Monday night. Some blowing & such and I tend to hedge low on the numbers I record, but very little snow fell yesterday and last night. There was some snow in the air, but flake size was miniscule. There are school closings in Union City & Corry districts today, my guess is that only far southeastern inland areas of the County received any appreciable snow with that Huron fetch that never backed any more westward. I can sort of verify this as last night going on a snow drive / property search, it was snowing at a good clip from Wattsburg south to Union City on Rt 8. As I headed west back toward Edinboro on Rt 6, snow was intermittent and much lighter.
  17. So much for a double-digit event. Can this large body of water to my north provide big snows anymore west of Chautauqua county? Synoptic snow certainly is an impossibility. Well on our way to another below average snowfall for winter, that is 5 out of the last 6. This "great" pattern for LES has simply bled warmth from the lake. On to next winter, er, the next event. Sour grapes rant over.
  18. As of this post, the afternoon has continued to bring NWPA...more wind. Waiting for the appearance of some LES during this LES Warning. I see CLE mentions "a lot of dry air" invading, although they do still say some nice totals likely over this way tonight.
  19. 2.0" overnight as of 7am. CLE / BUF Radar returns don't ever really show anything in my central Erie County, but at work looking at Edinboro University live webcam, snowing at a pretty good clip - which is usually a good sign for mby.
  20. That made me chuckle CLE touting rather robust totals on their map, my point & click, and LES headlines. Still remaining just this side of optimistic... Regardless, nice to see many counties with Advisories and Warnings.
  21. 2.7" overnight. Cautiously optimistic Monday evening into Weds. Maybe get into double digits for an event... Hope many snowbelt counties and communities in NEOH and NWPA see some decent accumulations this week.
  22. Annoying SW flow, no appreciable snow...? Except of course for a 15 mile wide stretch in Erie County, NY. Maybe the weekend.
  23. Decent little event here IMBY. From north to south in the middle of Erie County in NWPA: Lakeshore by Presque Isle/Waldameer - nothing on the ground. I90 / I79 intersection area: inch or so, some grass still showing. My house just a tad north of Edinboro - 4" or so. Radar less than impressive, not sure how much longer it will be snowing, but it is moderate snow at the moment. Also, thanks for the writeups OHweather. They are great - love visiting the board and seeing your red Indians avatar front and center with new posts.
  24. 4.6" overnight, 1" today. Finally cracked the double digit mark for the event since Thursday, now at 10.6"...a rather arduous crawl. However, soon to reach triple digits for the season.
  25. When i got back to work (right next to Presque Isle) at 3:30 pm, easily pushing 8" since I left at 9am. This is on top of the 4" or so that fell along the lake last night. I see they finally upgraded the Lakeshore to a Warning. From Presque Isle eastward past Erie up toward North East / south to Colt Station is going to get quite a bit more. On my way to chase!
