That's a good analogy, 2011 did feel like vertigo where today just felt like a vibration and shaking. I'm in the same building that I was in 2011 but was on the third floor then, first floor now. I'm not sure how much of a factor that is but to me 2011 was worse so its interesting to read everyone's different take here.
Totally agree! In 2011 was much more of a rolling feeling out here on Long Island - could actually see my office wall flexing and the lights were swinging back and forth like crazy. This one was more like vibration/shaking. Both really cool though!

Setauket area reported 1.2”, again showing that area as the snowiest on the island. Upton came in with an even inch. That area always finds a way to get the max on LI
Can confirm...way up here in the "elevations" of Port Jeff Station (177') looked like 1.5". No official measurement though.

About an inch and still coming down pretty good in Port Jeff Station. Nice to see.

No rain today at all in Nw Suffolk. Those storms from CT blew through a nice gust front that sent plenty of boats in though. Winds gust to about 30
Amazing how they just fall apart every time when they hit the sound. Conditions have to be just right for strong storms to make it across.

So…chances of flying out of Islip at noon on Friday? I’m thinking it’s unlikely.

It's definitely pine beetle killing them in a lot of places. Out here by Brookhaven Lab it's pretty crazy - whole stands of pines brown and dead.

5.8" total here. Good snow day for the family. Local jackpot here and my son with the full event jackpot in PVD. His school is closed. Smithtown seasonal total is 33.1"
5.8" is what I measured here in PJS as well. Solid storm!

Still have blowing snow out here. Beautiful
One of my favorite snowfalls in some time. Long duration and really pretty.

Is anyone watching this absurd radar? Jesus
Crazy. Radar keeps firing back up right over central LI and upstream. Looks to keep going for a while, too.

About 3.5” here in Port Jeff Station. Just came in from a lovely Jeb soak in the hot tub. Favorite place to watch snow fall. Was coming down pretty good for a while.

I will take my 6-8” on the ICON and run for the hills.

My two favorite snowstorms since 2010 were Boxing Day and Jan 2016. Boxing Day for my best drifts since Feb 78 in Long Beach. Jan 2016 for overall totals, duration, and best monthly comeback on record from Dec 15. But the Nemo snowband in February 2013 surpassed both those events for intensity. They even wrote a paper on it. That storm could have produced a 50” jackpot if it had stalled.
30"+ here in Port Jeff Station, like 18" in five hours. Best storm ever for me, with '96 second and Boxing Day third.

Im just surprised how disappointed people were with 8-16 inches of snow from that storm from NYC and points east.
Always some upset folks when one or more models spits out 30"+ for the metro a couple days before the storm and we get half that LOL. I was ecstatic with my 18"!

In my part of Long Island, 2/7/13 is probably my favorite
Still my #1. Had like 32” here in PJS, thundersnow, everything. Such a dynamic storm.

~11-12". No way to know for sure.
Same here in Port Jefferson Station. No way to tell. Some bare ground along with 2.5’ drifts.

About 4” on the ground in Port Jefferson Station around 3 a.m. Just spent a glorious hour in the hot tub watching the snow pound down.

Yup I'm gonna ask for a point forecast... Friday afternoon/evening at Citi Field looks ok doesn't it? Dry and warm, right? Thanx
Yeah...it's poured at every concert I've been to so far this summer...and I'll be there, so take that into account . That said, looks like it might be dry for DeadCo Friday.

I would love to see scientists create a device that sucks humidity out of the air and converts it to usable fresh water
There’s a water fountain you can buy that does just that.

With 1"-2" snowfall reports around Binghamton, it is extremely likely that Binghamton has received at least 0.5" snow today. As a result, winter 2019-20 has moved past winter 1962-63 to become Binghamton's 19th snowiest winter on record. Winter 1962-63 had seen 95.3" snow.
Crazy that Bing has a 40" snowfall in there this year and only gets to 19th place...
