The common theme to this evening as crepuscular rays. Started off with some nice rays... And the hits just kept coming... Even had to tip back to get more vertical to get the rays... Back to the horizon with faint rays... Even the post sunset had rays... This last one is for only the ardent, hardcore atmospheric optics lovers. Anti-crepuscular rays. Rays heading off to the vanishing point in the eastern sky. Not something you see a lot of in Indiana but here they are... Cheers!

The atmosphere tried to give me another jet engine sunset. Local sunset... Early post sunset color... Late post sunset color... Bonus image: In the distance to the south of the sunset color advancing up the flanks of a cell between Indianapolis and Bloomington...
-
Back to the regular scheduled evening clouds. The jet engine was rather vivid pre sunset... More of an overview... Local sunset... And ending the evening with max red...

Hush now. Let us warmistas enjoy our sticky underwear, melted ice cream cones and A/C. lol
-
What the heck. Sky conditions this evening were partly cloudy with scattered fireworks...
-
While waiting for the real fireworks, I grabbed some sunset images at the middle school. The orange... The blue... *note; the fireworks in the corner are there to confirm that this was the sunset from the Fourth.
-
Once again, nothing special. But I did have to go out and document it. Local sunset... Early post sunset color... Late post sunset color...
-
Tonight everything was in the distance on the western horizon. Some sort of nice color though. Local sunset... The yellow... The orange... And the red...
-
Nothing special this evening. But better than nothing. Pre-sunset, hen I got out to the pond... Local sunset... Post sunset...
-
Started off the day around noon and some cumulus amid other junk... When I first got out to the pond for sunset... More of an overview... Last image before the color faded...
-
Tonight is about the evolution of a popcorn pop-up thundershower. Happened between me and Lafayette and happened right at sunset. So I was there to document it. What I started with when it got out to the pond... 17 minutes later, look how it has grown... 26 minutes later the Sun peeked around the skirts of the cell... 14 minutes later, my look how big it has gotten and such nice crepuscular rays... 8 minutes later, zoomed into the skirts for the color... 3 minutes later, more of an overview of the color area as it was fading... For a sum total of 68 minutes from the first image to the last image. Say good night Gracie.

A great night out at the pond. Had a little bit of everything. Started out going out a little bit earlier than normal. Wanted to get some cumulus images before they evaporated... First look west during the yellow and white... Of course the cumulus being lower, gets the color first before the cirrus. Here the cumulus is so overhead that I had to shift upwards quite a ways to get the red color... Orange on the horizon... A *close-up* of the orange/red with the 24-70mm... Max red back with the 16-35... Good night my darlin' wherever you are...

Caught a break in showers and sprinkles around sunset. There was no real color so I just turned the images into simple black and white to show the sky conditions. Looking southeast... Looking southwest...
-
Just the southern edge of stuff to my north this evening. Wide angle... A little more focal length...
-
Only one image tonight. With the cloud being off to the north I had to try and take the shot from behind a lot of cat-tails. And the berm did not raise me high enough to keep them out of the shot. Thems the breaks...

And just what is the long term damage you speak of? Here in the US we have been dealing with it since around January. Six months is only short term in my book.
-
Tonight was all about the view to the southeast. The white... The yellow... The orange... And to end the evening, the red...
-
Was an extremely busy day behind the viewfinder. Started off with a midday run to the pond for some clouds. Looking northeast... Off to the farm lands with this east view of the clouds over some turning winter wheat... Back to the pond for the evening stuff. Glad the wind as up and I as not trying for reflections shots. There were some fishermen in kayaks. So I took a picture of one... The beginning of sunset color... The end of sunset color...
-
For those around Chicago, why do you need two boundaries, one north side and one south side? Doubling your bets?
-
The rain moved out of the area just in time for the sunset this evening. The view to the southeast as I got to the pond. This alone would have made the evening a success even if the rest was not photogenic. But there still was more to shoot. Local sunset... Had a bit of a jet engine for the post sunset... Ending the evening with a close-up of the combustion chambers of the engine as it was throttling down...
-
Just one image of the sky this evening. The approaching system is close enough now to really impinge on the color. I did take this to annotate the cloud conditions.
-
I originally thought tonight would be a bust. I was wrong. Might not have been a five start evening but I was still glad I did go out to the pond. Pre-sunset... Actual local sunset... Going to jump to the last of the color post sunset. Did a lot more than I thought it would with that next system getting so close...
-
I was a tad late getting out to the pond this evening. Some faint rays when I first got out there. There was more rays earlier but that is the way that it goes... Local sunset... The color only progressed to yellow/orange before the blo-ups in Iowa shut off the faucet... Swung the camera more to the south to document the smoke on the western horizon...
-
Tonight was perfect with cloud type and positioning. Thanks to the upper low to the southeast of me. And the conditions upstream to the northwest were even advantageous for some good color. Made for a very nice after dinner treat. When I got to the pond, a little sundog on the south side of the Sun... Local sunset... Here comes the colors, starting with the yellow... The orange... And ending the evening with the ohhhs and ahhhs of full-on gak red... Good night my darlin' wherever you are...
-
This evening probably was not worth five images but five is what I got. Looking southeast when I got out to the pond... Looking west with some cloud shadows off to the left... Local sunset... Beginning of post sunset color... End of post sunset color...
