wow to see 71 on this date in 2011!

    also:

1989 - Low pressure off the coast of North Carolina brought freezing rain and heavy snow to Virginia and the Carolinas. Snowfall totals in Virginia ranged up to 18 inches at Franklin. Freezing rain reached a thickness of two inches around Charlotte NC. (The National Weather Summary) (Storm Data)

This wasn't the February 1989 storm that dropped almost 20" in Atlantic City was it?  Our big virga storm lol

Yes. We were forecast for 5 to 8 inches & got nada!

CMC trends to GFS with the storm next weekend, surpressed to the south. Still a lonnnng way to go but would not surprise me at all if we somehow find a way to get rain from one storm and miss another.

Agreed. Kinda reminds me of many winters in the 70s and 80s. We always seemed to be either too far north, too far south, too far east or too far west for any given storm. It was unbelievable at times.

Pattern on the maps for late January and beyond now starting to take on a very 1966-ish feel. Anyone else here personally remember winter 1966? 65-66?

    WX/PT

Yes I do (I'm old :). Lived in Randallstown MD. for the "Blizzard of 66" as it came to be known.

yup lol thats true too, but the amazing part for me is actually knowing it's the last time I'll see it for 6+ months so when you know it's the last time you enjoy it more.

I think the April 2018 6" snowstorm was gone a day later but the one in April 2003 (also 6" here) was actually around for 3 days afterwards....not that it actually mattered, getting an all day snowstorm in April was what was amazing about it.

Nothing will ever beat 4/6/82 for April snow IMHO.

EURO still on the beam:      Look at the 30" Cape May wipe out or white out.     Anyone know what the single storm snow total record is for Cape May?      Just trying to judge if this run is legit based on history.      Maybe 1899 Blizzard?

I believe that Cape May received 34 inches from the 1899 blizzard but I could be wrong.

3/31/97 was near 60 and 4/1 was in the high 50's then that night I got 17". We had been experiencing a very early spring and the trees were nearly fully leafed out already. What a disaster that was.

We got 22 out of that one. What a mess. Our son was 6 months old, we lost power for 2 days and didnt have a generator then. We own one now.

Spent the night at our neighbors, he was able to keep his house warm with his wood burning stove.

Next morning we left and stayed with my in laws for a day and a half until power came back. :(
