First off, Happy New Year!
Made it to the pocono cabin. Started snowing a few hours ago. Not much accumulation yet, dry, breezy doing its best at pushing these light flakes around
So over due! Hope my skiers having something to work with tomorrow and Monday.
Pellet Stove cranking along….College hoops and a nice beverage……perfect when you add in a snow storm.
Cheers

4-5”at the cabin. It got wild for a bit with strong winds upslope bringing in waves of snow with some sleet mixed in at times. Skiers had a fine day at frost.

went up to the Pocono cabin. The only sign of snow (outside man made at BB) is the pile of stone pushed up from plowing in Dec.

This has definitely been an amazing drought buster. I have been saying for months this would end with a week of rain.
Having lived along the north shore since the early 80’s I have experienced similar events. They all kind of blend together. Fire hose events featuring NE fetch. Back bay water rise. Beach erosion.
Imo the winds peaked sat morning after trashing our back yard with 40-50 mph gusts.
There was one event years ago when we did not see the sun for almost 10 days.
It appears after tomorrow things will get brighter.
50f. Rain NNE to 20
Rinse and repeat -
Per radar Monmouth co passing 4” and its just pouring outside. MaNature always has a way to rebalance.

Ok wind gusts reaching 50 plus. Check
Watching leaves and branches go flying by our entire yard and into the horse farm. Check. Reminded me of some of those twister videos this past week.
Heat running in may. Check
All we need now is a good high tide.- 1

Holly did an awesome job. I just measured around the protected side of the house and avg 16”……Allaire NJ. The drifts were up to 2-3ft with a few larger ones here and there.

Still snowing. Still windy. Still drifting. Still crazy after all these years.

still cranking along here in SoMoCo by Allaire. piles.....drifts.....sideways.....up-ways......down-ways...slanted ways.....
should be wrapping up between 3-4. Windchills are going to be an issue for sure
this is a good storm no doubt. we have had MUCH better....this one IMO seems stuck in 3rd gear......fleeting moments of 4th gear. I do enjoy having this occur through the daylight hours.

no clue how much here.....moderate snow and very gusty winds.

Just woke up so I will keep this simple. It looks like a blizzard outside. Snow, winds gusting, drifting.

I don't drink coffee, but maybe I should.
Tea? A Pepsi?
I imagine that scene from airplane later tonight at the office after the midnight run.
Hang in there mike.

Oh it has been loads of fun!
Hope you have good coffee! -
One of those days I feel for the my holly crew. They are going to be burning the midnight oil.
Cheers to them! -
Thanks! What that basically does is get into the weeds about how "mother nature" "must come into equilibrium" and shows the mechanisms (and equations) to explain how that happens with "weather". Adjacent high pressure and low pressure will "move" to try to equalize and come to some sort of "steady state". Same goes for differing temperatures and humidity. I kind of compare that (as the "macro" application) with what goes on with the ideal gas law too - PV=nRT.
Credit to follow Anthony and his group of contributors. Sure thing get into the weeds but its nice when something clicks every now and then….
Ok, time to rest the brain.

Great snow event in the poconos. Just stopped here….likely around 5” of pow pow. My favorite part is the snow was falling when i woke up and just stopped around bedtime.
Be safe with the ice and low temps…winds coming soon.
There is just something about being here in the elevations and snow in the the air
